Yes I setup the app before I created a widget and FW has all permissions,the default skin is the only one listed and there is no animations and no weather forecast.

Except for the city name everything works on a 7 year old samsung J5 2016 on android 6,version 3.5.6 won't install.

On my old Samsung Note 4, also with stock Android 6.0.1, I installed v3.5.6 (the others also work) and I have it configured like this, in the Locate configuration:

Climate Provider: Accuweather
Geocoder: Climate provider
Geolocation: ticked
Use GPS: ticked

And GPS always active. This way, it locates me not only in my city, but also in my neighborhood.

The widget works well on my android 6 phone but on my android 12 phone only the time works,there is no forecast available so the screen is black and it cannot find my location either.
I have manually added all the widget skin folders but the app doesn't see them.
The app has all permissions and is excluded from battery optimization,I have uninstalled everything and setup the app again before creating a widget.
It seems android 12 is a no go.

I have numerous apps that use gps on the phone and they all work flawlessly,thanks for you help and suggestions,guess I'll go back to my android 6 phone.

The version 4.0.8 in post #168 is 100% working (and updating) for me on S22 ultra with Android 13.

Ok, yes, I have updated the post #168 with the new versions. As always, carefully read the installation instructions (and previously uninstall any installed version) to avoid a malfunction of the app.

For those who want a more permanent solution, after trying a number of alternatives I found a (for my usage) decent app that has most of the features of Fancy Widgets. You may want to try it, it is called "Digital Clock and Weather widget" by Sunspot Studio and is found in the Play Store. It is highly customizable but has no animations and no windscreen wiper though ....
I am in no way connected to this app or its supplier.

Hi, I'm new here and am a total tech idiot. I came here looking for a Fancy Widgets fix because I can't stand not having the cute clocks and weather. I've tried to follow this thread unsuccessfully. My main question is, I saw mention of a virus. Are these apk and clock skin download files safe? It's a new phone and I don't want to mess it up. I hope one of you fellow Fancy Widget fans will answer. Thank you in advance

    Good news! I found a working AccuWeather account and fixed the app. You can find details on the {Mod edit: Link removed. Oswald Boelcke}. At this moment we fixed Fancy Widgets v4.0.7, v3.5.6 and FancySense 2.5.

    Attached version 4.0.8 modified using the @&Delinquent[$] provider. This version has animations and allows to adjust the widget to the screen with more precision. And it works on Android 12 (I think Android 13 too).

    Remenber to add Fancy Widgets to the list of apps that should not be optimized to avoid that the app (also the time) stop updating.

    My android is not complete without this app. I have had it for years, and it was my favourite app...the first thing I would see when I unlocked my android. We still got the clock, but it is the weather that makes it complete. I have tried contacting the developer via email, but there is no response. We need this app. I got it for free, but I will gladly pay for it. We need to get through to the developer. He can't just abandon such a great project. My android will never look the same without Fancy Widgets. What can we do?

    Hi, I found the problem although for obvious reasons I prefer to be discreet about the solution. I am attaching all three versions, in which sunrise/sunset is updated correctly.

    2023-07-31 Updated the three apks

    Very important: uninstall any previous version before installing the updated version.

    v4.0.8 allows you to save the configuration (create a file fwsettings.bak in the path sdcard/android/fancywidgets). And restore it, of course. You can also put skins in the clockskins and weatherskins folders within the same path. It does not allow animations when unlocking. Download as (attached) .zip file.

    v4.0.7 allows animations when unlocking the screen, but does not allow using the path sdcard/android/fancywidgets (as in version 4.0.8) for save config and put skins. Update: now works the same as version 4.0.8.

    v3.5.6 is an older version that I have tested on an old Samsung Note 4 running Android 6.0.1 and everything works too.

    Make sure that on your mobile you have enabled the option to install apks from unknown sources (that have not been downloaded from the Play Store).

    Remind everyone once again that, once installed, you have to run the app BEFORE creating the first widget, providing all the necessary permissions. And, very important, put Fancy Widgets on the list of apps not optimized for battery use.

    Also say that Fancy Widgets needs the Location service activated to obtain the LatLon coordinates and, from there, all the data. Supposedly, it could also work without Location active (getting coordinates via cell antennas and/or WIFI and others) but it doesn't always work. Configured like this, in the app Locate configuration:

    Climate Provider: Accuweather
    Geocoder: Climate provider
    Geolocation: ticked
    Use GPS: ticked

    About skins

    --- If you have Android 12 or below, then:​
    --- For 4.0.8 internal memory/data/fancywidgets (config backup file is also stored there)​
    --- For 4.0.7 and 3.5.6 Internal storage/Android/Data/fancywidget (config backup file is also stored there)​
    --- If you are on Android 13, skins will not work.​
    ​
    This is not final. For example, in my tests amartphone with Android 12 I can see the list of skins but the clock disappears when I select one other than the one the app has built-in.
