I also have a "fancy" from the beginning -
(and it's been quite a few years -12?) Now Android 13 (Xiaomi Mi11)
Trying to solve it led me here. - on March 20, I received an update to a higher version of the system. And I test if my favorites work. The last time I used version 4.0.2 without problems was at the beginning of this year.
It stopped working a few weeks ago. I guess there was a partial update, it was still Android 12.
Now I miss the weather animation after unlocking the phone to perfection. (I also love the screen wiper.)
I used version 4.0.8 here from you. Many thanks for this working version.
If I could somehow contribute to "sustainable development" or beer... let me know and no problem.
I have several dozens of weather and clock skins saved. Unfortunately, I can't get them to work. I will deliver if interested.
Thank goodness "Fancy" is still alive.

Anyone got it working with Android 13? I tried the 3 different posted versions but I'm unable to add skins, there is just the default one with no background.
The app itself is not creating anything in Android/data even after adding the widget. If I create com.anddoes.fancywidgets folder manually there and add folders with skins, the app is not seeing them. Although when I uninstall the app, the folder gets deleted. Apk Info points to /data/user/0/com.anddoes.fancywidgets and I tried to put clockskins there and inside files subdirectory but no success

I don't have adroids 12 or 13 but after installed and run once. Suggest take a look in setting, installed apps, fancy widgets. See the permissions for storage is enabled. If this is not enabled that is the possible answer why the Fancywidgets folder not populating. Very interesting that uninstall sees folder and remove your manually created one. I believe this maybe the problem.

I give it Files permission when it asks, it has it. While under 'All files access' Fancy Widgets don't show up.

Good news! I found a working AccuWeather account and fixed the app. You can find details on the {Mod edit: Link removed. Oswald Boelcke}. At this moment we fixed Fancy Widgets v4.0.7, v3.5.6 and FancySense 2.5.
--------------------------------------------
ATTENTION, we noticed virustotal false(?) report, caused by APK Edit PRO. I'm checking information.
I get this message on my phone when I try to install it (see picture)...

Good question, but no my phones are not rooted. I'm only androids 9.x
Thanks for your reply,I added the fancywidgets/clockskins/weatherskins folders manually and put my skins in the folders and turned the phone off and back on and now all the skins work perfectly.So the phone doesnt have to be rooted for fancywidgets to work.
For reference my phone is Moto E20 running Android 11Go.

I also have this problem,using 4.08 and the time doesn't update.If you refresh in settings it updates the time but only for that minute.
Moto E20 on Android 11Go.
I have the same problem with the time not updating. I have a new S23 with android 13 which has the time update problem. My old S9 on android 10 updates time perfectly.

I fixed this problem by adding fancywidgets to the list of apps that should not be optimized for battery use.
It now works perfectly on moto E20 running android 11Go.

Hi,

It seems that isn't working since yesterday. Anyone else is experiencing the same problem?

It's not updating temperature or the forecast.

Yes, same here. The previously proposed provider that we were using in the recompiled versions is dead. When doing the query manually, he says:

"your subscription has expired. Please contact AccuWeather to resubscribe"

We need to find a new provider that is up and running.

    Aww that sucks it worked before what happened? That's the best part to see the windshield whiper and rain drops when it's raining on my home screen now that's gone? Is there a way to fix it? Even if i have to pay its worh it to me....
    Ok, I have tested version 4.0.8 on an old smartphone with Android 6.0.1 and the animations work when unlocking the phone. So, maybe it's a permissions problem in newer versions of Android, like v12 which is the one I use (and the animation when unlocking also doesn't work for me).

    There is an apk that I have tried, which looks like a Fancy Widget clone and the animations work. It is in the Play Store although you may not be able to install it if your Androir version is recent. Then, you will have to look for it through "unofficial" channels.

    Beautiful Widgets Pro

    It's curious because with 4.0.7 (which has stopped working a few weeks ago when subscription to Accuweather expired again) this was working fine.

    Ah, then I'll download 4.0.7 later and fix it.

    I have found that adding sunrise/sunset data to the day element corrects this.

    XML:
    <forecast>
      <url></url>
      <day number="1">
        <url></url>
        <obsdate></obsdate>
        <daycode></daycode>
        <sunrise></sunrise>
        <sunset></sunset>
        <daytime>
          <...>
        </daytime>
        <nighttime>
          <...>
        </nighttime>
      </day>
    </forecast>

    Ok, here is version 4.0.7 fixed. When this version is installed, it says that it was designed for an older version of Android. On my Samsung A52s with Androd 12 it works perfectly. We have to wait until tomorrow to see if it updates the sunrise and sunset correctly.

    Oh and by the way, in this version the animation works when unlocking phone. I don't know exactly what improvements there are in version 4.0.8 in relation to this one, but obviously, we better continue with this one, which apparently works much better.

    Especially if we can confirm that sunrise and sunset are updated correctly.

    if the GPS it's not activated and you press "update" the location remains the same.

    You can also test if this problem has been fixed. I have tried but I do not have a conclusive answer. I press update (with GPS disabled) but I don't know exactly if it does.

    But this is because you are making your own PHP script with your own API, right? Can you share here how you are doing? I already published the way to get the responses in XML format but it takes a lot of patience to be able to adapt it to our own API.
    Not exactly, but I am working on a serializable .NET class that can produce the XML expected by the widget from the current Json returned by the Accuweather API. The work I am doing does not require any changes to the APK other than updating the URL that it calls to get the XML input.

    Your post #104 was extremely helpful in getting this started since I do not have access to a working account to get that expected XML myself. The example you provided does not have a sunrise/sunset element and I discovered that element can be used by the widget.

    It also appears that moon data may be used and I plan to play with that next (I didn't even realize the moon features in the widget until I saw this). The following link clued me into these possible extra elements: https://gist.github.com/eladkarako/88e4e68ef5872e31778b633d0e1516a8

    I am not familiar with PHP, but I will be happy to share the .NET class and/or code if I get it to a usable point and people are interested in it.

    I have same problem and I am looking for alternative, but without success. For now I temporary replaced Fancy Widgets with KWGT created widget.
    Does somebody know with what to replace androiddoes.accu-weather.com? And also for another forecast providers used in Fancy Widgets?

    Update: I tried to go deeper, it isn't only hostname, but also in URLs, for exaple, there is:
    "http://androiddoes.accu-weather.com/widget/androiddoes/weather-data.asp" and as response you get xml with "Your subscription has expired. Please contact AccuWeather to resubscribe"...

    My android is not complete without this app. I have had it for years, and it was my favourite app...the first thing I would see when I unlocked my android. We still got the clock, but it is the weather that makes it complete. I have tried contacting the developer via email, but there is no response. We need this app. I got it for free, but I will gladly pay for it. We need to get through to the developer. He can't just abandon such a great project. My android will never look the same without Fancy Widgets. What can we do?

    Attached version 4.0.8 modified using the @&Delinquent[$] provider. This version has animations and allows to adjust the widget to the screen with more precision. And it works on Android 12 (I think Android 13 too).

    Remenber to add Fancy Widgets to the list of apps that should not be optimized to avoid that the app (also the time) stop updating.

    Edit: Go to post #168

    Here are the skins for fancy widgets clock 4.0x series. Extract in the fancy widgets folder. Then choose clock skins in app, you see them all in the installed list.
