It doesn't stop the pre-loading which can be an issue in case of mobile data. Disable HTML5 Autoplay (Reloaded) and uMatrix are better in this regard. The former doesn't seem to work on a per-site basis in Kiwi though.

I have an issues with this browser, it has a lag of 3-5 sec when loading a page. After typing the address and hitting enter, for a few seconds it doesn't seem to do anything.
Does this happens to anyone else?

I have experienced the same but in a few sites although the wait time is longer like upto 10s sometimes. It was the same in Chrome Beta and Samsung Browser all of which are based on Chromium. But not in Firefox or Soul Browser. These sites occasionally load normally but a few minutes later the problem crops up. Persisted after a fresh install as well. I had posted the same in the Kiwi TG group yesterday.
I noticed that, this lag is not present in Firefox. For the moment Firefox seems to be the fastest browser, but it has less features and has it's own bugs. I really like kiwi, but this lag is annoying.
Yes. I was surprised to see how much FF had improved. In terms of scrolling Soul Browser is the best in my experience, almost always 60fps, even in certain sites like Amazon, Google News etc. mostly image-heavy where Kiwi lags noticeably.
If you use Chrome/Samsung Browser did you also experience the lag in them? This is a quite frustrating issue as it seems to impact most of my frequently visited sites.
Yes, I have the same lag in chrome. In Samsung Internet I haven't tried, overall I find it somehow bulky, slow. I don't use it anymore.
Clearing the cache seems to solve the initial lag, at least for the moment. You could give it a try.

Doesn't seem to have any effect in my case. I had earlier tried in a fresh install as well.

Maybe the developer could answer this, if he's reading the thread.
In another browser that I used, I could close it through the Android management and it would close all the tabs, in this one it opens the last open website. But thanks for the tip, it helps.
The option to choose what to do with the tabs is available in the settings.
Kiwi Browser > Settings > Privacy > Close All Tabs
(the choice to Tick / UnTick to Close All Tabs between two browsing sessions).

Even with the latest update from Github the issue persists. It's quite frustrating to say the least.

the DNS server is unchanged. I'm using Blokada so there's no need to change the DNS in Kiwi.
But this lag is not there in Firefox, for example.
And with the latest update maybe the lag is a bit shorter, but is still there.

For now I found how to disable sound, but the videos start playing automatically.

I've been an official developer on the Chromium project and WebKit in 2007 and 2008 (paid by Google as part of Google Summer of Code).
Since the feedback has been positive, I'd like to interact with the XDA community to get feedback, ideas, or just give help.
I'm a big fan of CAF Browsers, but unfortunately, they are not updated anymore and this is one of the biggest reason I've started the work.
This is *not* a variant of an existing project. The codebase varies significantly but it's conceptually inspired by CAF.
The browser is still very much work-in-progress, so I really appreciate feedback and ideas. I'm working 4 hours per day on the browser and I use it myself every day so decent stability is expected.
This is a hobby project, and I'm looking for feedback here, so I'm cool with any kind of critics.
I can only answer outside of daytime (Europe timezone) as I have to work during the day to buy food for my cats.

On some devices (in particular Xiaomi), extensions may be unloaded by the system when the device wants to optimize memory.
During the optimization, the device (Android) chooses what processes to disable.
In this new release of Kiwi: Kiwi indicates to Android that if Android wants more memory, it should try to avoid disabling the current active tab and the extensions.
If the extensions are disabled by Android, Kiwi will try to reload them.

Every year, the tradition with Kiwi is to announce something big for its anniversary:
- 15 April 2018 - First Kiwi Browser release.
- 15 April 2019 - Kiwi Browser gets support for Chrome Extensions.
- Today, Kiwi Browser for Android is going full open-source, like Chromium or Mozilla Firefox.
Everything is released, including extensions code, no strings attached.
You are even allowed to integrate Kiwi in your commercial browser (yep, Microsoft Edge, Brave and Vivaldi are encouraged to use code) or create your own (if you have custom ROMs for example).
This project represents thousands of hours of work.
Pushing such code is absolutely important, it means that new browsers will be able to support extensions and add new functionalities by reusing the work done on Kiwi Browser. In the past weeks, I worked with other browsers to help them integrate Kiwi functionalities. Hope to see good news soon.
If you want to improve Kiwi, your changes will be reviewed actively on GitHub. If you want to create your own fork, feel free to do so.
My goal is to open new possibilities for anyone to mod their browser with absolute freedom.
Give back the power to the user.
The source-code is now available on GitHub and is now the reference for all future developments. It's in Java and C++. As Chromium build system can be sometimes complex to setup, all the dependencies are already included in the repository.
