Abandoned?
Google Chrome's current version is 109.0.5414.86, whereas Kiwi is 107.0.5304.74. This is pretty fresh in my book; even v103.0.5060.104 is fresh, in my opinion.
Kevin is doing
Kiwi browser just because he loves it, and it is far better than standard Google Chrome. This is noteworthy. I love it too, with all of my heart.
I do not think there's any reason to complain just because this project is not updated every other day or whatever. Kevin has a life, like everyone else, and is doing this altruistically. He has all my blessings in this respect.
In my lightful opinion, the single most important thing about any piece of software is whether it works well or not, which is very different than having a higher version number. A higher version number does not necessarily mean better software.
I grew up using computers since the late 80s. In the 90s applications were updated “when they were ready”, so it could take years for major upgrades. There was
not any sort of “update frenzy” back then, with the exception of slip-ups, of course. In contrast, nowadays many applications are being updated just because @#$% thee and I certainly cannot agree with this. They keep rolling updates while not fixing the bugs they introduce, which can be fairly annoying. An example of this is the Telegram application, which
since last summer (last good version is 8.6.2) has a bug which involves incorrect operation of the cursor keys in the chat input field, which is pretty annoying for people like me who use keyboards with cursor keys (there are software keyboards with cursor keys too). I hope the ****e hits them hard soon, just so they are forced to fix the bug. End of off-topic.
The moral is that if you need your software to be updated faster than “when Kevin feels like it”, then install another browser.
And of course, thank you Kevin.
