Same problem here with Tasker calls from Commandr app.
In order to make it work again, you need to use commandr plugin in Tasker and add multiple profiles for your voice tasks.
add new profile > event > plugin > commandr for google now. With small RegExs you're done.
example:
(.*save|.*backup|.*copy)(.*phone|.*memory)
matches:
please save my phone
make a backup of the smartphone
copy phone's memory, thanks
. . .

Return to Previous App Problem

A problem I'm hoping someone can help me fix:

I was hoping to use commandr to control brightness and volume when I'm running my SatNav app (Route 66 Navigate), and also hopefully to phone contacts. When I use OK Google, for example to phone a contact, it opens a page that doesn't disappear when it's finished, thereby covering up my navigation app; so I can only then get back to the app by touching the phone - I'm trying to go handsfree here! So I hoped that commandr, especially with its "return to previous app" setting would fix this.

It doesn't, in fact it makes things worse. If I only have my navigation app running and say "ok Google: volume 60" - it does change the volume BUT it then opens all the following screens, the first of which is in front of my navigation app:

A web page with search results for volume 60
A google app pages that says "Get Now cards"

The same happens with the command Screen Brightness x

I haven't enabled any Google Now cards, but can't find any way to completely disable Google Now - the only settings are via the google app or the google settings app. Commandr says that return to previous app doesn't work if you are using Google Now Launcher - no idea what that is - I haven't installed anything other than what comes as standard on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (with latest Lollipop OTA upgrade).

"Return to previous app" behaves strangely for me too. I've managed to achieve something similar to what you want by using Tasker and its Commandr plugin: when Commandr kicks in, tasker calls the "go home" function, thus stopping additional google search or whatever, and calls the app I want. actually I have a "car mode" scene for that, a bit more complicated.

I'm having a mixed experience with Commandr. I own both a Nexus 9 with stock android and an LG G4 with LG's UI.
Neither one of them recognizes all the commands, even if they're all activated. The N9 recognizes more, with the G4 just refusing to activate most tasks.
Another thing I noticed is that if I enable the xposed module on my G4, to make Commandr work with my Moto 360 v2, it just completely freaks out. If I, for example set the volume to 20, it just sets it to 100%, and not to say that it just works like only 10% of the times, for all commands.

This is the second time I've tried this app and the 2nd phone I've tried it on and it doesn't work for me. The last phone was my Note 4 and now it doesn't work on my Nexus 6P on PureNexus. (Example: goodnight gives me the definition of goodnight rather, battery status takes me to battery apps)

It worked for me since yesterday by using commandr plugin with tasker. Unfortunately with the last Google search update on my jelly bean it doesn't seem to capture voice commands from google anymore.
Given that the last update of this app is from a year ago, I'd say I've reached the last chapter. Now I'll have to search a similar app to rethink my voice-activated life. So long Commandr, 't was nice.

Did you found any other App?

Did you found any other App?
Yes, it's a Tasker addon, Tasker Now by Baldapps. It's not for free, but it's cheap, 1 euro. And maintained.
It's like Autovoice, but I think it's easier to understand. With very few adaptations to regex and variables I switched voice-activated profiles to that, and I added some voice-activated tasks to match those few integrated voice commands of Commandr I was actually using.

If Commandr will revive in some form, and depending on its features, I could revaluate it, but for now I'm afraid I'll stick with that addon.

Quick update on progress on removing requirement of "note to self" for root uses...

This was implemented successfully using MohammadAG's Google Now API, but unfortunately it seems that this api has many bugs and has to be updated for the new version of Google Search. As soon as this is updated (he is on vacation right now), I will add this functionality :) For now, rolling back changes...
