You can't anymore. Android hasn't allowed colored notification icons since at least Android 10, maybe earlier. That's why kajozord removed the option (or disabled it when running more recent Android releases; I don't remember which).
MMS attachments are saved to a Pictures folder on sdCard, but do not play in Yaata with error "media not found". They play OK directly from the Pictures folder. Is this a settings issue? I see the same issue on Pixel 7 & Pixel 4a

It hasn't been updated since August 2021, so yeah, I'm sad to say that it's dead for all intents and purposes. That and its ongoing issues with MMS (which have never been resolved) pretty much require looking at different SMS apps for your needs. There are still quite a few in the Play Store that are supported and have many of the features of YAATA (Mood, Handcent, Pulse, and Textra are good candidates).
Best sms app ever, too bad you don't maintain it anymore... Please update...

His statement was some time ago, but maybe he will come back one day and development is ongoing!?
YAATA is running fine for me on android 13 and I will not change it for anything! "HOPE DIES LAST"

I'd still be running it if its MMS handling wasn't so completely f****d up. That's a deal breaker for me. If/when he returns and finally fixes it, I'll be back. Until then, I'm using Mood and will simply monitor the situation.

Others have said that they can't get them to send no matter what. I've had issues where the MMS messages completely disappear from a conversation, even though I can see them using other MMS apps (like the LineageOS Messaging app). I seem to recall there were other issues as well, but I'd have to search back through this thread, which I honestly see no need to do at this point.
This is a huge thread, but if you browse back through it, you'll have ample evidence of the problems people have been having with MMS. (Note that none of this is a knock on Kajo, who works on this alone and is doing his best. I'm only layout out what is, nothing more.)This was from over a year ago (March 2022), and YAATA has not seen an update since March 2021 - over 2 years ago. Has YAATA been abandoned or not?

He might not have formally abandoned it, but since it's been over two years with no updates (and with still-outstanding issues), I'd say that, for all intents and purposes, it's abandoned.
That's a shame. I have tried other apps, including ones mentioned in this forum, and none compare. Specifically, I'm looking for a replacement that has an autoresponder that will respond to a message while my phone is connected to a headset or charger, and also block messages by name (rather than just by number), both things that Yaata does. I really wish Google would provide these items in their stock messaging app, because I HATE relying on apps, since most eventually abandon their apps.

Probably the best outcome at this point would be if Kajo were to agree to turn over YAATA to another developer so that it may continue to live and get improvements (and some much-needed bug fixes). Hell, I'd return to it in a heartbeat if it got new life. I'm not going to pin my hopes on that, though, so I'm going to stick with Mood while I continue to search for The Next Great SMS App.
Anyone else experiencing this with MMS group messages? It just started happening a few days ago. Been fine for ages...

Seems like everyone experienced that with YAATA at some point. Spoiler alert: chances are better than average that it won't get any better.

For over two years (almost three if we count ALPHA / BETA stage) I developed actively YAATA SMS. Due to the fact that the development of the application was not profitable enough that it could have been my main source of income, in addition to developing applications I also had a regular job. In general, so for over two years I worked two jobs (my regular work and YAATA). In the long run, it is neither healthy nor comfortable nor acceptable by my family. For this reason, I had to take a break from YAATA.
Developing YAATA is harder work than I thought. All this time I had to deal with things that should normally take two or three people (developing, user support, marketing), I was also the developer and Product Owner. To put it briefly and bluntly at a certain point I felt exhausted, so I had to rest.15I've improved mms engine, so I'm think in BETA 7 mms on Verizon will be working. I'm still working on T-Mobile mms sending issues.
Thank you for donations and your support. In the first half of january I'll buy Nexsus 5, so I'll be up to date (now I'm still on 4.2 Xperia S) and I'll be working on "materializing" YAATA UI.
Coming donations I'm planning to spend on books (Design Patterns, Clean Code etc), android wear (to implement android wear support) and English lessons.
In december app development slowed a bit (hot period in my industry, 210 working hours), but in January I will be able to devote more time to the app development.
In the new year, I'm planning to change job for IT (this application has to help me, and change location to place where the sun shines more than three months of the year), and if I succeed, YAATA and my future apps will be free of charge.
