hmm didn't try changing Album covers as I always do that on PC before transferring music to my phone. Changing the artist photo however works great and on my device at least (Galaxy Note 3) they're not low res and look great (you can use your own if you don't like the Gracenote versions)
My advice would be use "Mp3tag" on PC to change album covers and the Music app for artist photos =)

Thanks for the apk, it works on my Asus Zenfone 2 Laser. But unfortunately, it keeps fc-ing whenever i try to download data, either for album art or sens me data. do you have any idea?

WARNING!!! this is for Non Sony Devices running lollipop or CM12+ users, i will give you 3 method:

-Copy SonyMusic.apk (permission rw-r-r) and "lib" folder (permission rwxr-xr-x) to "SonyMusic" folder
-Open "lib" folder, and set permission for "armeabi-v7a" folder to rwxr-xr-x
-Open "armeabi-v7a" folder and set permission for all .so files to rw-r-r
-Done...restart your device
-Enjoy :good:

2. Push to system with flashable.zip
-You must have working flashable zip for your device
-Download latest Sony Music and press thank's button to developer :good: (better rename to "SonyMusic.apk" first)
-Open SonyMusic.apk with any software (ex,winrar) and extract "lib" folder
-Create "SonyMusic" folder and copy sonymusic.apk include "lib" folder to this folder ("SonyMusic" folder)

3. Install as normal apk

method number 1 works for me, i'm using stock lollipop for asus zenfone. Be careful when you setting the permission though, i'm stuck in bootscreen when i give wrong permission to the files or folder
