Aurora Store v4 First Public Alpha

Hi all,

Here is the first public alpha for AuroraStore v4.
A lot has changed from v3.2.9 which was like 7 months ago.

Google keeps changing the API, so instead of patching every changes.
I decided to write a new GPlay API that is dynamic enough to embrace this regular changes.

Therefore a new client was required to explore this dynamic API.

Here are few things that are new:
1. You can browse streams similar to Play Store, ie For You, Editor's Choice, Early Access. EC & EA is not available on anonymous logins.
2. App Library, so you can track your app install history.
3. App-on-Sale, uses a 3rd party API for index, but app data is fetched from Google's servers
4. A dedicated section for Games
5. A new improved App UI
6. A lot of under the hood improvements.
7. Kotlin

Here are few things that will no longer be available or has changed:
1. Geo-spoof, would provide a companion app to facilitate the same, if required.
2. Favourite app, will add something called similar to WishList, limited to google login only.
3. Anonymous logins now use your device-config to create session, so your device-config is sent to my dispenser server. It may sound scary but it is not, here is a sample of what I send to my dispenser in order to create a anonymous session.

Whatever else is missing, will be added soon.

Please keep in mind that this is a alpha build and it has many bugs & scope for improvements.
Help us improve & support building a friendly FOSS Community.

I read all messages, I may not reply to all. But I do read all.

Regards,
Rahul (@WhyOrean)

This is amazing, thanks for sharing the Alpha.

I have a question in relation to this: "EC & EA is not available on anonymous logins." - will such a feature be added to anonymous logins in the future? At least the Editor's Choice varient?

Eventually it will be available for all, but for some reason it isn't working well with anonymous logins so he removed it temporarily.

Excellent. Faster and better.

1. The search icon overlaps the lowest selection box.
2. No way to blacklist certain apps?

Otherwise great.
It's an alpha build :) Everything (except those mentioned) will be ported over to v4 with time. As for the search icon pls send a screenshot since I don't have that bug.

Hi Folks!
Thank you very much for your work and the upcoming Aurora version! ;o)

I maybe have a bug to report:
The last alpha on my phone is listing fdroid-apps for updating, too. But Aurora is indeed not able to update it, i guess it's because of fdroids own apk-signing.
Aurora Version 3.X has not listed any fdroid-apps.

Aurora Store v4 Alpha 8

Hi all,

Here is the new alpha build for v4.

Major Changes:
  1. Added blacklist manager
  2. Modified device config to remove TimeZone, MCC & MNC data.
  3. Added Developer app list
  4. Improved app details page
  5. Added option to blacklist & spoof on initial login.
  6. Fixed old bugs & added new ones.

For the app accent, working on a basic theme manager, so you can customize it.
Fonts will to stay unchanged.

If in case bug you reported isn't solved in this version, no a problem.
I'm on it, I read each & every message. So don't feel ignored.

Also, I need few volunteers running MIUI, OneUI or other OEM ROMs having issues with installer.
Please join here to help improve the installer. It is good if you have root access.

Users waiting for Kitkat support can also join https://t.me/AuroraOSSMisc if you wish to test early builds.

Thanks,
AuroraOSS

Edit: For some reason XDA isn't letting me upload the file as attachment, so I have uploaded it to my GDrive.

Hi, I've tried today Aurora Store 4α8, and it says that I'm not connected to the internet, even though I am. I've tried both a wifi connection and a mobile connection, and with none of the two it works. From AdAway I've checked the DNS log when I open Aurora Store, and it's empty. Aurora Store 3 and Aurora Droid work normally.

I, personally, do not like the Gdrive link because I use Aurora to avoid the use of Google services (in a direct manner). Is it possible to upload it to some other service? Sorry for the inconvenience.

Oh and by the way, Aurora is some service I really like :D

Their website and gitlab has no mention of Aurora Store 4. The updates here are being posted by a completely different account than thread's OP. (and in alpha 1 post he claims to be the OP). Why does it all look so fishy?

Yeah, now that you mention it, it is a tad fishy. I think I am going to use version 3 for now as that works solid and maybe when the official site mentions version 4 I will install it again. Thanks! :D

Because I was asked to post here since the admins are inactive here :) and if you have any doubt you can get the apk from here and telegram group and verify their SHA. I only post here to keep the XDA thread also on page with ongoing development and have no incentive from it since I use telegram anyways.

Added another host. Still can't upload as attachment :(

    Hi all,

On public demand I added an optional Insecure anonymous session, disabled by default. Which basically allows you to generate GSF ID on your own device rather than the dispenser server.
This would allow you to get apps & listing from your own country, similar to v3 and also opens up bridge for Geo-Spoofing.
The new preference is located at Settings > Networking > Insecure anonymous session. To apply geo-spoofing just use a VPN and set location for where ever you want to geo-spoof. Make sure you relogin & restart Aurora Store to apply these changes. Test it & let me know if it works fine for you.

Also, stop sending me bulk messages & emails 😒, you want something just create a Gitlab issue.

    Enjoy!

Please note that this is a test and not an official release

Edit: XDA file uploader is acting up again, i cannot attach the apk here, so i have uploaded it to an external site https://gofile.io/d/5ng014

Am I the only one for who the downloads never start?
Since new app design has been released, notifications spinning for ever...
Android 11 / LOS 18.1 / always anonymous mode / all permissions ok
The app sees the updates but when I click download nothing happened.
Also I can search for a precise app but I can not download it.

Make sure the following domains are whitelisted

    -connectivitycheck.android.com
    -android.clients.google.com
    -play-lh.googleusercontent.com
    -play.googleapis.com
    -reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org

    Website maintainence

Currently we are setting up the new website and adjusting configs. The website is functioning, however some parts will be broken and all APK files (and some others like warden scripts) are not available, including stable builds & nightlies. This goes for Aurora Droid, AppWarden and AuroraWallpapers as well. To download the stable builds use the one in our Telegram channel or XDA thread or download from GitLab.

Estimated meintainence: a whole day or two.

    Aurora Store
    Unofficial Google Play client

    Disclaimer :
Using Aurora Store with your own Google account may cause your account
to be blacklisted, use at your own risk.

Aurora Store is an Unofficial FOSS client to Google's Play Store, with an elegant design,
using Aurora you can download apps, update existing apps, search for apps, get details about app tracker & adware.
You can also Spoof your Device Information, Language, and Region to get access to the apps that are not yet available or restricted in your country or Device. Aurora Store does not require Google's Proprietary Framework to operate,

It works perfectly fine with or without Google Play Service or microG.

Earlier based on Yalp store, v4.0 is a Kotlin rewrite from scratch that follows
Material Design and runs on all devices running Android 4.4 and above.

Aurora Store is derived from the following projects, special thanks to the devs

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between Aurora Store and Google PlayStore ?
Unlike Google Play Store, Aurora doesn't track your downloads or the apps you use. We respect your privacy. Aurora is also uneffected
by Google marking your device as uncertified or a lack of Google Apps.''

Is Aurora Store a fork of Yalp Store ?
Technically No, the Aurora Store v3 is written from scratch, but it does share some code from Yalp Store (the POJO xD)

How can I report a bug or suggest something?
You can open issues here, or you can join our Telegram Development Group Join Now

How to Join | Contribute to Aurora Store ?

I am open to any kind of suggestions/feature request, you can either mail me at [email protected] or ping me on Telegram.

    Why Aurora store ?
Because PlayServices have always disappointed and are proven to be Spyware & Malicious to the end user link.
Unfortunately, we cannot always get-by with just FOSS Apps. Aurora store helps us retrieve apps from the PlayStore repository,
without having to trouble you and your device with Google Apps.

If I don't need GApps, Do I need MicroG ?
No. Aurora Store was built to access PlayStore without any kind of google services. It doesn't care if you use it with or without GApps or MicroG.

    What is the FakeStore ?
Badly designed apps detect if PlayStore is missing and start misbehaving. The FakeStore is a stub that pretends to be as PlayStore and
preventing the apps from crashing, as the package name for FakeStore is same as PlayStore (com.android.vending).

Is it safe to use Aurora store ?
Aurora is fully open source and verified by F Droid. If you're talking about the safety of the apps in the store, it just gets them from the same place
that the Play Store would, and are verified by Google. A lot of dangerous stuff seems to sneak past them though, so as a rule of thumb, don't download anything
    which you're not sure about.

What data does Aurora store send to Google ?
Aurora Store does its best to send the least identifiable information possible. It does send list of package names of your installed apps (for fetching updates),
your search queries and your downloads for obvious reasons.

Do I need to use my own Google account to log in ?
Nope, Aurora Store can log you in with a dummy account so that nothing gets linked to your own account.

Why would I use my own account? Is it safe ?
You can use your own account to download apps purchased by you or to access your wishlist. Although you may want to be careful, as Google retains
the right to block any account, so probably use a dummy account.

How do I login if I have 2-factor-authentication enabled ?
You just need to get an app password from the Google dashboard and use that to login into Aurora Store.

How do I purchase paid apps ?
Purchase the apps from the PlayStore website, and login using your own account in Aurora Store to download them.

Can Aurora store verify licences ?
Not yet. All you can do at this point is pester the dev of the licenced app to give you an alternative method for verification.

Can I use Aurora store to get paid apps for free ?
    No. Get out.

What is the F Droid filter ?
Since F-Droid signs APKs with its own keys, the Play Store variants of apps cannot be installed over them. The F Droid filter excludes all the apps
it finds with F Droid signatures on your device to prevent such conflicts.

What is the spoofing feature ?
Spoofing allows you to pretend to be any other device at any other location in the world, to download geo-restricted apps. You can use your own custom device
configs by dropping the .properties file in the Downloads directory (Settings -> Downloads -> Download Path).

How does Aurora install apps ?
Aurora Store can install apps in 3 ways

    • Manual - Whenever an app is downloaded, it will open the manual installation screen. This doesn't require root or system perms.
    • Root | System - By giving Aurora Store root or system permissions, it will automatically install apps in the background as soon as they are downloaded.
    • Aurora Services - By installing Aurora Services as system app, Aurora Store can automatically install app upon download completion in background.

How do I use Aurora services ?
Install Aurora Services (to system preferred), open it, do everything it says, open Aurora settings and choose Aurora Services it as install method.
You don't need to give Aurora Store system or root grants. Aurora Services handle all install & uninstall requests in background.
NOTE: Aurora Services support has yet to be implemented in v3.

How to give Aurora Store|Services system permissions ?
You need to either manually push the APKs to /system/priv-app, or install the magisk module from the group.

Can Aurora Download and install Split or Bundled APKs ?
    Yes, with or without root.

    How can I submit/improve translations ?
Go to POEditor, and inform me when done.
(Although I keep track of translations progress, but in case I miss, let me know)

Why do I have two Aurora Stores after installing the new builds ?
Because the v3 is a completely new rewrite, it comes with a new package name. You can uninstall the older one or keep it if you want.

Why are the versions on FDroid and XDA labs outdated? When will they be updated ?
Aurora Store is still in a development phase right now, and only infrequent stable builds will be uploaded there (Also, FDroid's review & build process is quite lengthy).
You can always grab the latest tests builds either from the Telegram Group or from AuroraOSS

"Please add FDroid | Amazon App Store| Yada support"
No, this is a PlayStore client. Which means it's for the Play store only. Different clients for different services (^_~)
