It should be updated now.

I have created issue https://github.com/bromite/bromite/issues/430 to track this problem.

Perhaps you have not seen the comment in issue 384 which is there since October 15th: https://github.com/bromite/bromite/issues/384#issuecomment-542408991

Yes, you are right, sorry about that. I just installed chromium 78.0.3904.119 and the issue it's not occurring there.
On bromite, the player disappear just after load even disabling the block Ads option.

What are the benefits of using bromite over Android system webview....

If you meant over Bromite's webview, It has adblocking capabilities for not just the browser but also the apps that are based on Webview, Like Google News for example. So even more ads will be blocked on your system(Though not all, You need a system wide adblocker for that)

Just curious about "startpage removed". I still see it as a choice in search engines. Also wondering about the reason.

Edit: I think i understand why Startpage is being removed:

I hope there will be more options for us in the future then, than only just duckduckgo and qwant. While I personally not meaning to distrust them, there are other different opinions out there. And the idea of non private search engine while being inferior to google in capabilities, doesn't feel good at all.

Hi
I am getting a new phone soon which I won't be able to root and I know Google sync doesn't work with Bromite. So, is there any way somebody here knows of backing up Bromite data and restoring to new phone without root please. I usually use Titanium but that won't be an option.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Feel free to continue the discussion there.

Bromite provides a default selection but any search engine which implements OpenSearch can be added. See https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/OpenSearch

If your favourite search engine does not implement OpenSearch, ask them to do that.

Instructions to add any search engine (valid also for Chromium): https://github.com/bromite/bromite/wiki/SearchEngines
