Install the app I gave in the attachment. Download Button Mapper app from Play store. Buy the full version and change the default recent button with Toggle OmniSwitch. Now your default recent app should be OmniSwitch.

Determination pays off, and this app is worth every curse word I have yelled because of not being able to kill apps with it for a long time now...

OK folks, I got it to install AND kill ALL apps, individual, and all except focused app.
Not sure how, but here's what I did:

This is on note5 tw rom, 5.1.1 when previously I couldn't kill any apps whatsoever with omni. All it did was swipe away, and then reappear.

What I did was use an updated, flashable zip created by temasek for his cm12 room back in the day. But I used to flash the zip, and it wouldn't work on some roms like this one.
So this time I copied the 'OmniSwitch' folder from this (attached below -step one) zip to system/priv-app and gave the folder 755 permissions and the app OmniSwitch.apk, 644 perms.

THEN...I copied this (attached below -step two) newer apk version to the same folder to overwrite the previous.
Reboot.
Open OmniSwitch in app drawer, enable the slider tab to turn it on...then set to boot and configure.

Hope it works for you. I'm not 100% on what I did different to make it work beside not flashing the zip this time.

the additional apk I provide, I have always copied over after I flashed the zip because it's a newer version, but still labeled 1.1 [not sure why they're both 1.1 but the apk is indeed a fixed newer version and it fixes the 'change icon size' fc.

I tried everything as you said. But killing app still does not works and apps keep reappearing when i swipe them. Tried it on Grand Prime running On7 TW rom 5.1.1 .

I am providing a flashable zip of OmniSwitch v1.1. But one thing that makes this different from the other zips in this thread, is that my apk has a feature called Launcher Mode. This lets you run OmniSwitch as an app switcher as well as a launcher. I can't remember exactly where I got the file, I think I pulled it some months ago from a OmniROM ROM zip (Nougat) for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. I tested it on ARM and ARM64 devices, works fine. I don't think it will work on anything lower than Nougat, I tested with Marshmallow roms and it didn't work.

One downside is that it doesn't appear to work after applying a Substratum theme. I currently have an Axon 7 running a 7.1.2 Nougat AOSP-based ROM (OMS-compatible), OmniSwitch works until I apply the Swift Black theme. After rebooting, pulling on Omni's colored drag hlogcattriggers a message along the lines of "OmniSwitch has stopped working". Without the theme it works again, I didn't test other themes. However, the other zips in this thread do work even with my theme applied. I have no idea what is causing the crash. Maybe I'll try to get a logcat later and post it.

The APK is slightly bigger, I pulled it from an unofficial Resurrection Remix 7.1.2 for my Axon 7. I suspect it will only work on Nougat or higher. It may also work on ARM64 (Axon 7 is ARM64) and ARM. Flash in TWRP or FlashFire.
