Thunderbird has an option to place replies both in the sent folder and a copy in the folder that the message originally was. This allows the conversation to stay in one place. IMO that is a better option than moving messages out of the sent folder into the archive folder which I agree with @M66B is not intuitive and potentially intrusive.

To me it means all messages of the conversation, except messages I sent.
And there you have it: different people, different ideas.
Adding yet another option nobody understands doesn't seem a good idea to me.

Also, even if you archive the messages, how are you going to find back the conversation (=all messages) ? You'll need an email client for this, which does this for you. Fortunately, FairEmail will do this, but of course limited to the messages on your device.

Here, ALL messages of a conversation are always archived together in a topic or person folder - including my own messages, of course, otherwise you wouldn't know later what a reply referred to. So restoring the entire conversation with the contributions of all participants is no problem.

If only all email servers supported this and if only people didn't harshly rate 1 star for when something small doesn't work.

Not all email servers can handle copies of messages (=messages with the same ID), even not when this is in different folders.

Here, the Sent folder is not used at all, because all mails, including mine, immediately end up in the corresponding Topics or People folder - so a copy is not necessary at all.

I think that is a good point: you can always use filter rules to automatically move messages.

I am not sure what you mean by this, but the messages of a conversation will be order on date/time descending by default.

I meant your new Sepup screen: There should be IMO in the point 1 first 'Wizard' or the 'manual setup' arranged, before then 'Go to inbox'-button comes.

I am not sure because the manual setup is meant as fallback and for fine tuning, like setting a color, etc.
