Version 1.1519 is available on GitHub now and in the Play store after Google's approval, which mostly takes a few hours.

Seperator is now working. I discovered another effect: someone sent me a mail with
to: first_name1 last_name1<adddress1>, "last_name2, first_name2" <address2>
This is displayed as:
to: first_name1 last_name1, last_name1, first_name2

Looks like 3 recipients.
Maybe there should be some "

I don't see how this could happen. Can you please send me a raw message file of an example message (you can use report issue in the navigation menu) ?

Raw message: save via the horizontal three dots menu just above the message text.

Hi Marcel,

Feature request for the future... 😊

Copied messages on different folders - is it possible to sync the "snooze message" data and icon between them? (more or less like you did with local notes..)

Btw, didn't have the chance to check it myself so asking - snooze data is backed up by exported settings?

Thanks a lot!

Snoozing is always done per message to make sure new messages in a conversation don't get snoozed.

Snoozed messages are not exported because messages are not being exported either. This is not feasible with a huge amount of messages (some people store literally hundreds of thousands of messages on their device).

Dear Marcel, I would like to join with a question ... is it possible to give the pop-up note-window a date field and to copy the note into the calendar when filling it out?
Thank you also a lot!

I am not sure if I understand this correctly, but you can create a calendar event from a message. I will see if the note can be include when doing this.

Sorry if I missed it, but is there a way to bulk edit the settings for folders? For example, I want to enable "notify on new messages" and "synchronize" on several folders - Is there a way to do that without editing them individually?
There is an 'Apply to all' in the three-dots overflow menu of the folder list, but you can't batch enabled synchronization or new message notifications.

You can long press on a folder to enable synchronization / new messages notifications though, saving you going through the folder properties. Also, in the long press menu you can enable/disable synchronization for all sub folders.

Thanks for the details! It would be nice to get "show in unified inbox" in that "apply to all" dialog too - I have dozens of folders and want to most of them in the unified inbox (pretty much all of them except for spam and archive).

In the future, I'd love to see better support for bulk editing. I'm a developer but I've never worked with Android apps... Perhaps I can figure out how to code that myself and send you a pull request :)

It would be easy to add this, but it would result in an endless series of support questions of people who use this and don't know what it does.

I am not sure what you mean by bulk editing, but you can long press to select multiple messages and perform actions on the selected messages.

@M66B, lately I've been wishing for a way to quickly access the replied/forwarded (sent) message of an inbox/archive message. I thought maybe it would be possible by clicking on the replied/forwarded icon on the message header? Problem is there might be more than one, but it could by like a special "search" function with a list of messages and auto expand if there is only one?

Anyway, it's not a big deal, but it would be useful in my present usecase.

With conversation threading (grouping of messages) this should be simple.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I meant bulk editing of folders. The ability to modify the properties of multiple folders at the same time. Imagine something similar to long-pressing messages where you could select multiple folders, then click "properties", and the properties dialog edits all the selected folders (showing checkboxes in indeterminate state where appropriate). It's pretty tedious editing them one by one, and sometimes I don't want to edit some setting for ALL of them (like the "apply to all" does).

Thanks for the great app :)

Hello Marcel,
i have a question about your great email app. Maybe it's a bug, maybe it normally and I don't know the technical reason.

When I send an mail, it will be first saved under drafts. That's OK. The mail, with or without attachment, will be uploaded to my email provider. When I finally send the mail (with or without attachment) it will be uploaded a second time. Sound legitime because it will be moved to another folder (transmitted).
Now the mail has been sent.

But after few seconds it will by uploaded for the third time.
(in the meantime the mail is grayed out until the sever approved the transmission)

Is it normal or can I do someting to prevent a lot of data being used. For example. When I send an mail with a 15mb attachment it will be used round about 45mb (for the triple upload). This behavior occurs even without an attachment.

Thank you very much for your help!
Have a nice evening

I will put this on my to do list, but it will be low priority.

Each time the draft changes it will be uploaded. You can disable this in the three-dots menu of the message composer.

Version 1.1551 is available on GitHub now.

    Changelog/download:
    https://github.com/M66B/FairEmail/releases

There is one new feature which is hidden for now because it is still experimental: using HighestModSeq for a quick check if a sync is necessary on reconnecting. This will probably reduce battery and data usage, especially when there are many reconnects due to an unstable / often changing internet connection. The email server needs to support the CONDSTORE IMAP extension for this. For example Gmail and Dovecot based email servers, like of Disroot.org, do.

You can enable this option by temporary enabling debug mode in the miscellaneous settings and enabling the MODSEQ option. You can disable debug mode again after this.

Version 1.1541 is available on GitHub now:

    Changelog/downloads
    https://github.com/M66B/FairEmail/releases

A number of things, like periodically checking for new messages, waking up messages after snoozing, checking if sent messages exist on the email server, etc, were moved either to the sync or send service to comply with new restrictions on foreground services in the upcoming Android 12. This is a significant change, which is why this is an ALPHA VERSION !!!

It is time for a new, modern, open source, privacy friendly email client for Android.

I have just released a first alpha version for feedback on the design and features.

    Not for production use yet!

Most of the stuff basically works, but be prepared for crashes and error notifications.

Safe email is a working name, but it is for several reasons not a convenient name, so suggestions for a name are welcome.

I have just released alpha version 0.15

    Changelog/download:

With a bit of luck the next version can be a beta version.

I am putting a lot of effort into this project, so thanks are appreciated.

I have just released alpha version 0.10

    Changelog/download:
    https://github.com/M66B/open-source-email/releases

I have put many hours into developing and debugging this release, so thanks are appreciated.

This version is still not suitable for production, but all basic functions are present now. The goal is now to stabilize this version into a first beta release, so please let me hear what problems you have.

Edit: due to database changes you'll need to setup your accounts/identities again.

I have just released beta version 1.745

    Changelog/download:
    https://github.com/M66B/FairEmail/releases

The changelog might seem uninteresting, but in fact displaying messages has been rewritten to introduce inline displaying of original messages. I spent about two days developing and testing this, so at least a "thanks" will be appreciated.

Some background: normally the web view cannot be used in a scrolling list (of messages in a conversation) and although there exist several workarounds for this, none were satisfactory. However, I had a completely novel idea (as far as I know) about how to approach this without the usual edge cases (hopefully) !

To do: investigate if using a dark background is feasible (setting the background dark is simple, but the challenge is to modify the message so that everything is still readable). I will consider to add an option to always display original messages.

Please report any problem you discover, so it can be fixed.
