So, for me even if FairEmail lost the ability to connect to my outlook.com mailbox completely I wouldn't be bothered, and would think it a crying shame if such a brilliant email client, head and shoulders above any other Android client I've tried, was abandoned just because of this issue with Microsoft mailboxes
This, a million times!

Doesn't this look nice?

How to:

Add folders to the navigation menu by long pressing folders in the folder list.

Long press a folder in the folder list of an account to set a folder color. The unified system folders will use the color of the underlying folders, if they are not conflicting.

Set account colors via manual setup in the main setup screen.

Search for something and save the search with a color.

Pin the navigation menu.

Select solarized as theme.

Hello all,
Ive been trying FairEmail lately, and absolutely love it, and am hoping to switch from AquaMail which is what I had been using until now. However, though I am attempting to move away from Yahoo altogether soon, I do still need to get emails from my Yahoo accounts in a timely manner for the time being.

I've had AquaMail and FairEmail running at the same time for a few days, and noticed that while AquaMail generally will notify me of Yahoo emails within a few minutes at worst, FairEmail takes significantly longer to do so, if at all. Sometimes I will go into the app and refresh, only to see emails it never notified me of.

None of the other providers I use with FairEmail have issues, and I've disabled battery optimizations, etc.

As Yahoo does not support standard push, I've tried various settings for the "check periodically instead of continuous synchronize," trying it at the default 1 x 15 minutes, and changing the value to various other amounts to see if it works. I couldn't find documentation in the FAQ of exactly what this setting means though. Does 2 x 15 minutes mean it will check twice in fifteen minutes, or once every thirty?

Regardless, I really couldn't care less about battery or data usage, so if there are any settings I can change, regardless of how much additional battery or data they will take, I would like to make it so FairEmail can receive messages as quickly as AquaMail does for Yahoo. Its worth noting that it never has trouble fetching emails if I manually refresh it, so if I could just, say, make it as if I manually refreshed it every few minutes, just automatically, that would be great.

Hopefully someone can help me out as to what settings I could change to get FairEmail fetching Yahoo emails quickly if possible!

Thank you!

EDIT: Not sure how to delete posts on XDA, but changing the keep alive interval in advanced settings for those accounts seems like it did the trick. Thanks for the fantastic email client, I love it.

Hey,
I have a question about attachments.
When I take a photo and share it with Fairemail, I get the option to remove private sensitive (GPS) information and adjust the size of the photo.
However, when I start to create an email and add a photo as an attachment, I don't get that option.
Now it may be that I have a setting wrong or that it is not possible this way.
It's not a big problem, but do miss it. Greetings

Try to use the image button instead of the attachment button and make sure the image options are enabled in the three dots menu.

Well, I actually knew that I was doing something wrong and that it was processed in Fairemail. Sorry to bother you on this sunny Sunday. Greetings

That is excellent news.

Unfortunately most internet users are very ignorant and have a long history of blaming the wrong thing when there are problems. Like in the late 90s, when Microsoft's Internet Explorer was by far the most used web browser, and lots of people who knew nothing about HTML etc started using Microsoft's desktop-publishing-like web page authoring program (what was it? Dreamweaver?) to create web pages because they just used a WYSIWYG interface and that program then generated the HTML code. Not knowing anything about HTML they had no idea that the program generated the most appalling HTML mess, including a bunch of tags etc that were not normal HTML, and in some cases were wrong HTML, but Internet Explorer - only - was made specifically to render the output of their own horrible web page authoring program. So all those web pages ONLY worked in Internet Explorer, and broke in competing browsers, as a deliberate tactic by Microsoft who knew that all the ignorant users would blame the competing browsers rather than the hideous Microsoft web page authoring tool. It was dreadful, but a nasty successful tactic by Microsoft that drove a number of otherwise very good browsers (for the time) out of business despite being much better than Internet Explorer. Sadly it's something very tempting to companies who gain a dominant position, and Google have started playing that game with Chrome.

A week ago I went into the US playstore to look for 1 star reviews to downgrade them. Frankly I had trouble by just scrolling down to find any which were not 5 stars! So to find them I finally resorted to pre-selecting the reviews to only show one stars and then downgraded those.

I think other developers would kill to have your reviews. Like several others have written it is impossible to please everyone in anything. The overwhelming consensus is that your app is brilliant.

Whether this is normal is debatable, unless the general consensus is that mankind should be stupid.
Much of mankind _is_ stupid. That is a fact.

Reminds me of an American radio show that took place in a town where "all the women were beautiful and all the children were above average".....

Stupid people are what allow calculating averages. Actually, many are not really stupid. They may have doctorates in Dutch literature or Renaissance art but don't know anything much about computers. Most people that use computers know very little beyond the minimum. That's why Apple is so successful. Their products 'just work' and the user needs very little knowledge to use them. CEOs of multibillion companies usually cannot fix their computers. That's why they have tech support departments.

I don't expect everybody to be computer expert. What is frustrating is that people don't ask for help and just run for the 1 star button.

I admire Marcel that he still keeps track of all the functions and options ... he must work in an insanely structured way!

    Enjoying this wonderful app!

    It just works flawlessly.

    Thank you Marcel!
What amazes me is that Marcel keeps keeping up with really ingenious ideas to make FE more and more awesome!

Stopping with improvements wouldn't be fair to the people appreciating my effort, so I will keep improving the GitHub version and reduce the Play store updates to once a month.

Since it happened too many times to me that I answered a message while a new message arrived making the answer less useful, the next version will show a bottom notification when a new message arrives in the same thread as you are composing a message for. Tapping on 'Show' will open the conversation, so you can quickly check the new message.

It is time for a new, modern, open source, privacy friendly email client for Android.

I have just released a first alpha version for feedback on the design and features.

    Not for production use yet!

Most of the stuff basically works, but be prepared for crashes and error notifications.

Safe email is a working name, but it is for several reasons not a convenient name, so suggestions for a name are welcome.

I have just released alpha version 0.15

With a bit of luck the next version can be a beta version.

I am putting a lot of effort into this project, so thanks are appreciated.

I have just released alpha version 0.10

I have put many hours into developing and debugging this release, so thanks are appreciated.

This version is still not suitable for production, but all basic functions are present now. The goal is now to stabilize this version into a first beta release, so please let me hear what problems you have.

Edit: due to database changes you'll need to setup your accounts/identities again.

I have just released beta version 1.745

    Changelog/download:
    https://github.com/M66B/FairEmail/releases

The changelog might seem uninteresting, but in fact displaying messages has been rewritten to introduce inline displaying of original messages. I spent about two days developing and testing this, so at least a "thanks" will be appreciated.

Some background: normally the web view cannot be used in a scrolling list (of messages in a conversation) and although there exist several workarounds for this, none were satisfactory. However, I had a completely novel idea (as far as I know) about how to approach this without the usual edge cases (hopefully) !

To do: investigate if using a dark background is feasible (setting the background dark is simple, but the challenge is to modify the message so that everything is still readable). I will consider to add an option to always display original messages.

Please report any problem you discover, so it can be fixed.
