I am not sure if this the right place to ask for new features.

When "showing the original message ..." in addition the check-boxes "do not ask ... email-address" could there be a box or option to allow any message from *@server or just server.

For example if I get and email from support@mybank.com I could elect to elect to allow from any sender at mybank.com.

TIA
I am not sure if this is a good idea. Not all addresses of the same domain name, for example *@gmail.com, will be trustworthy, which could lead to enabling the less safe original message view when this is not desired.

I will put this on my to do list and think some more about it.

Version 1.1461 is available on GitHub now.

Changelog/download:
https://github.com/M66B/FairEmail/releases

Since Android language detection is still broken on Android 11 and doesn't seem to get fixed, I have added the Compact Language Detector v3 instead, which makes language detection available for all devices and all Android versions. Since the neural network is embedded in the app, the APK size is about 3 MB more.

You can enable language detection in the behavior settings.

If you want to detect the language of existing messages, you can clear local messages and synchronize the messages again by long pressing a folder in the folder list.

I am not sure what you mean. Archiving messages is done by moving messages to the archive folder. The folder structure is stored in the email server and the app will follow this.
Actually if i select the option to mantain folders structure when archiving, Thunderbird automatically creates the same folder structure for the message into the Archive folder.

If i archive a message that's in "Inbox-->folder" and i archive the message then i will find the message in "Archive-->Inbox-->folder".

I have lot of subfolders for my inboxes so it could allow a really better management of the archived messages.

I tested this feature on Thunderbird and i saw that it actually create the folders it needs under the Archive folder, also on the server, not only on my local PC.

I see, but I am not going to add this to FairEmail because it is the rather complex and few people will use this. Note that it isn't always possible to create folders and that some servers reject this due to security policies. In other words, this would inevitably lead to more support questions, of which I already get plenty (think thousands each month).

The updated theme count is:
  • blue/orange light 3
  • blue/orange system 3
  • red/green inverted dark 3
  • red/green inverted system 2
  • black 4
  • black/white 1
  • grey dark 3
  • grey system 1
It looks like the default blue/orange is the favorite, although the red/green inverted seems to be appreciated too.

Note that you can now select the theme via the three-dots overflow menu of the start screen.

I agree, there are risks associated with this idea. However, I think the benefits out weigh them.
You are the developer the decision is yours. Do not do anything which you feel might put the reputation of your stella software at risk!
Your appreciatively

The POP3 protocol gives access to the inbox only, so there is no way to move messages to the spam folder and to report spam. So, it is not possible to train the email server to recognize spam. People using a POP3 account often complain about spam for this reason. When the POP3 protocol was designed, in 1988, there was no spam yet.

Version 1.1463 is available on GitHub now.

There is a new checkbox in the send dialog (long press send in the bottom action bar) to archive the conversation being replied to on sending the message. The checkbox state will be remembered for the next time.
Whereby this item is only displayed in the send dialog if you have enabled the conversation view in the settings.

Yes, that's correct, it will work for conversations only.

There is a good reason for that: a thread can always be looked up by thread ID, but the message being replied to cannot be reliably looked up because it could be deleted or moved to another folder at the time you send the message.

How was the call with Google today, Marcel?

Google was pretty friendly and cooperative and told me the favicons are indeed the problem, and it can/should be fixed by updating in the privacy policy to "disclose how your app accesses, collects, uses, and shares user data":

    Privacy Policy

All apps must post a privacy policy in both the designated field in Play Console and within the app itself. The privacy policy must, together with any in-app disclosures, comprehensively disclose how your app accesses, collects, uses, and shares user data, not limited by the data disclosed in the Data Safety section. This must include:
    • developer information and a privacy point of contact or a mechanism to submit inquiries
    • disclosing the types of personal and sensitive user data your app accesses, collects, uses, and shares; and any parties with which any personal or sensitive user data is shared
    • secure data handling procedures for personal and sensitive user data
    • the developer’s data retention and deletion policy
    • clear labeling as a privacy policy (e.g., listed as “privacy policy” in title)
The entity (e.g., developer, company) named in the app’s Google Play listing must appear in the privacy policy or the app must be named in the privacy policy. Apps that do not access any personal and sensitive user data must still submit a privacy policy.

Please make sure your privacy policy is available on an active URL (no PDFs) and is non-editable.

So, I have updated the privacy policy and added this new table:

    https://github.com/M66B/FairEmail/blob/master/PRIVACY.md#summary-of-shared-data

I am not sure if it covers everything, so feedback is more than welcome. @mkasimd maybe you can take a look?

Note that I have also enabled BIMI, Gravatars, Libravatars and favicons for the Play store version again.

The short term goal is to release a Play store test version (and associated GitHub version) and to get the update approved. I will think about the next steps after this has been accomplished. Given the huge number of supportive messages I received (much appreciated!) the project will be continued in some form in any case.

It is time for a new, modern, open source, privacy friendly email client for Android.

I have just released a first alpha version for feedback on the design and features.

    Not for production use yet!

Most of the stuff basically works, but be prepared for crashes and error notifications.

Safe email is a working name, but it is for several reasons not a convenient name, so suggestions for a name are welcome.

I have just released alpha version 0.15

    Changelog/download:
    https://github.com/M66B/open-source-email/releases

With a bit of luck the next version can be a beta version.

I am putting a lot of effort into this project, so thanks are appreciated.
