Did you the manual update check (long press 'About') work?- Yes long press about button gives update notification.

In the miscellaneous settings:

Check for Github updates is on
Check weekly instead of daily is off
If the manual update works, the automatic update should work too. Maybe you installed new versions faster than the check for an update occurred ;-)

Could be i usually update as soon as i get the e-mail from Github.
Next release i'll wait to see if it gives me a update notification.
The confusion is probably caused by the fact that FE is limited to check Github for an update only every few hours. That can result in getting the email notification from Github first.

The Play store reviews of the last few days are pretty disappointing to say the least. Some nice reviews would be appreciated.

Sometimes I am wondering why I am running this project anyway.

Somebody shared this German article with me, which is pretty to the point:

Hi to you all,
Just a quick question regarding the return receipt message/template.
I just browsed the FAQ but did not find any answer. Is the default return receipt message editable anywhere in FairEmail, or do I have to create a template and every time I send a return receipt delete/replace the default message with my template.
As Portuguese speaking person I would rather have a return receipt message in Portuguese.
Thank you in advance,
Best regards,
Luis

The read receipt message will be in the language(s) of your device. Note that you can select multiple languages in the Android settings, if you are using a recent Android version and that the read receipt will be multi lingual too.

I understood that to send a return receipt in Portuguese I should add Portuguese as second language.
What I was asking was if I wanted a different receipt message like "Relatório de Entrega: Lida.", then I must create a template, right?
Best regards,
Luis.
If you want to send a custom answer, a reply template will be the simplest, yes.

I haven't understand the rules completely. What happens (and what are the consequences even with other clients) if I define a rule?

I assume the email is moved automatically from fairmail. Some questions in fairmail:
- if sync is deactivated for this folder what happens?
- is the email still shown in my inbox or can I miss the email?
- what happens with the rule if I opened the email with another client during deactivated mobile connection

For other clients:
- what happens in other clients if the rule was applied? Can I miss the email there? (I use thunderbird on my private desktop as well a Web client for my office desktop)
Can someone explain?

A I said, you see the mail only in your inbox if you copy instead of move otherwise you have to look in the destination folder.
If you only open the mail in TB (an not delete them) the rule will be execute if the mail arrived on your phone.

If sync is disabled, nothing will happen.

If you move a message with a rule, it will be shown in the target folder only.

If a rule matches, it will be executed, independent on when the message arrives on the device.

But if the mail not arrive on the device there is no matching and therefor also no rule-execution.

Hello again,
I followed the FAQ How can I synchronize Gmail categories? to replicate the behavior of the GMail app and to avoid notifications from emails from gmail categories. ( Ex. Promotions goes to label Promo with a rule no to go to inbox (archive it) ).
In FairEmail I set the Promo folder not to issue notifications and to synchronize. Should I synchronize Promo periodically 1x15min or continuous synchronize? Which is more battery friendly? or causes less expensive action?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Luis.

How was the call with Google today, Marcel?

Google was pretty friendly and cooperative and told me the favicons are indeed the problem, and it can/should be fixed by updating in the privacy policy to "disclose how your app accesses, collects, uses, and shares user data":

    Privacy Policy

All apps must post a privacy policy in both the designated field in Play Console and within the app itself. The privacy policy must, together with any in-app disclosures, comprehensively disclose how your app accesses, collects, uses, and shares user data, not limited by the data disclosed in the Data Safety section. This must include:
    • developer information and a privacy point of contact or a mechanism to submit inquiries
    • disclosing the types of personal and sensitive user data your app accesses, collects, uses, and shares; and any parties with which any personal or sensitive user data is shared
    • secure data handling procedures for personal and sensitive user data
    • the developer’s data retention and deletion policy
    • clear labeling as a privacy policy (e.g., listed as “privacy policy” in title)
The entity (e.g., developer, company) named in the app’s Google Play listing must appear in the privacy policy or the app must be named in the privacy policy. Apps that do not access any personal and sensitive user data must still submit a privacy policy.

Please make sure your privacy policy is available on an active URL (no PDFs) and is non-editable.

So, I have updated the privacy policy and added this new table:

    https://github.com/M66B/FairEmail/blob/master/PRIVACY.md#summary-of-shared-data

I am not sure if it covers everything, so feedback is more than welcome. @mkasimd maybe you can take a look?

Note that I have also enabled BIMI, Gravatars, Libravatars and favicons for the Play store version again.

The short term goal is to release a Play store test version (and associated GitHub version) and to get the update approved. I will think about the next steps after this has been accomplished. Given the huge number of supportive messages I received (much appreciated!) the project will be continued in some form in any case.

Version 1.1900 is available on GitHub now and in the Play store test program after Google's approval (which is the main goal of this release).

It is time for a new, modern, open source, privacy friendly email client for Android.

I have just released a first alpha version for feedback on the design and features.

    Not for production use yet!

Most of the stuff basically works, but be prepared for crashes and error notifications.

Safe email is a working name, but it is for several reasons not a convenient name, so suggestions for a name are welcome.

I have just released alpha version 0.15

    Changelog/download:
    https://github.com/M66B/open-source-email/releases

With a bit of luck the next version can be a beta version.

I am putting a lot of effort into this project, so thanks are appreciated.
