Yes, this is true. Play Store gives visibility to this app that it wouldn't otherwise get without it.

If you want to play ball in Google's stadium, gotta follow their rules, regardless of whether you agree with them or not, and regardless of whether their policies are illogical or not. The problem with Google is that they have become so powerful that they can essentially dictate policies, with very little power on the part of devs/users to do anything about it if they disagree. I believe it's not a good thing for any corporate entity to wield too much control. The power goes to their heads.

In the end they are a business, with their profits being the most important thing to them...not users, and not devs. To that end, they collect mountains of data about us, then use it to try to sell to us. I guess it's all just a matter of how much influence we are willing to give them in our lives. Don't ever think they're the benevolent good guys, they aren't. The "do no evil" motto went out the door long ago.

Others may choose to go along with whatever they say, but I personally make it a point to only make limited use of their services, avoiding them if there are better alts. And to not give them more data if it's not necessary.

Since Android's sqlite version is being used now, the app had to switch back to FTS4. One of the problems with that is that the Unicode61 tokenizer appears to be not available on some devices, even thought it should be there.

This test version will use the ICU break iterator to work around this problem:

With the search index (wait until it is built again if you enabled it again), indexed words will be suggested.
Without the search index, subject and email addresses will be suggested.

With search index a much more complex result set is produced. I randomly checked the results and it looks good.

Unclear, unwelcoming, bad app. - 1 star

Today was more demotivating than ever and this is just an example of one of the too many disappointing reviews of today. I am asking myself right now why I did start this project anyway.

There was today also a guy leaving a not so favorable review, despite having added a series of new features for him. In any case, I have learned that I shouldn't put too much effort into new features anymore.

And more 1-star reviews, dragging the average rating down even more. The incentive to work on this app is slowly and steadily vaporizing.

I will keep maintaining the app, but I am going to reduce the time I am putting into support. It seems to be mostly wasted time anyway.
