How to delete message? :(
I don't think you can do that (found this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770076)

Couldn't open wololo.net :( http is replaced by https
Peregrine Browser tries to replace http:// with https://. Some websites don't support https:// properly. Peregrine Browser will end up showing an error.
In the latest beta versions, most of the issues with https:// should be fixed. I expect to release a new stable version soon.

@MarcTheDragon

Questions:
- does it has download accelerator like uc browser?
- does it has an ability to stream a YouTube video while screen is OFF?
- does it has translate feature like chrome?

Thanks for this.

It doesn't have any of those features currently.

Hello all..

I have an issue with going to websites that have invalid ssl certificates.

I'll type https://subdomain.domain.tld:8443/ and will rewrite it http://subdomain.domain.tld:8443/ it will be red as well.

Webpage not available

The webpage at

Websites with invalid certificates are currently being redirected to http://, but I'm working to change that.
The default port of https:// is 443 btw (and not 8443).

Here are a few thoughts on the current beta version:

1. Accessing the Hub in the current version could use some improvement from a speed/performance standpoint. It currently takes roughly 2 seconds from tapping the Hub menu option to even open a new tab for the Hub, then it takes another 6ish seconds to get the tab populated with a bookmark list. It also takes roughly 3 seconds to switch from the Bookmarks tab to the History tab, but it's more instantaneous going from the History tab to the Bookmarks tab. I haven't cleared my history in a while (intentionally to see if that impacted the load time of the Hub), and I am currently using Night mode. It would be great if these load times could be improved (most importantly, the time it takes between selecting Hub and having the page display fully, as 8ish seconds is quite a long time).

2. If I have a website open in the browser (in this example, news.google.com) and I switch to a different app, switching back to the browser brings up the keyboard. Please remove this behavior and make it so switching from a different app back to the browser does not automatically bring up the keyboard. It makes more sense to tap on a text box if you want to bring up the keyboard than it does to always have to manually hide the keyboard whenever you go back into the browser. I haven't tested this with multiple keyboards, but I do get this behavior using my primary keyboard, which is currently gboard.

3. Currently, if viewing a long webpage that has a horizontal scroll, I have to scroll to the right in order to get to the "back to top" button. That is perfectly fine, but when I press that "back to top" button, the scroll remains to the right. It would be great if pressing "back to top" would shift the page back to the left-most alignment when the page first loads.

4. Somewhat related to #3, are there any plans to implement text reflow functionality so that regardless of "zoom" level, the browser text adjusts so that no horizontal scrolling is needed? I vaguely remember a comment somewhere about Lightning Browser indicating that this was particularly challenging, and I doubt it's been made easier since I saw that, so I wouldn't be surprised if this hasn't made it onto your radar yet.

Yey, actually it can stream or play video from YouTube site while screen is OFF.

Best for me. Small size but convenient.

Just found about it on xda labs. Let's try. How is it performing/featuring in comparison to Naked Browser and Xbrowser (Fastest Mini Browser)? Let's see, those two are my favorites tiny ones, well in fact I can say for regular use my favorites browsers at all!

We sure can have alternatives to Chrome/Firefox/Dolphin and these tiny and fast browsers are showing as the best way to go. Thanks developer for one more option! I'll try it.

Just tested this browser (found out about it on xda Labs). So, my opinion so far: its very light, very fast, but there are 3 features that are deal breakers for me
1) Videos start playing by themselves on facebook (i prefer to use it on the browser). The videos start muted, but i dont like it as it consumes more internet data.

2) the nav bar. Its very good and very organized (especially the color changing) but that fact that its down on the screen bugs me a little. It would be fantastic to be able to choose its position on screen

3)the nav bar again. It occupies the a lot on my screen, so if it could autohide (like in chrome) it would be very nice.

About the other features, they are all great, no complaints, congrats for the nice app. If these features got implemented some day, i may use it as my browser. I'll keep an eye on future updates!

Why fullscreen option has been removed? :(

The fullscreen option hasn't been removed, however it doesn't seem to work anymore on YouTube (on other websites, fullscreen mode works just fine for me).
I think this is a bug of Google, but I'll try to search for a workaround.

Many sites like slickdeals.net and dealsea.com can't be loaded into quickdial. Ready to ditch Dolphin if I can just get my favorites saved. Thanks for your work!

    What is Peregrine Browser?

Peregrine Browser is one of the most lightweight webbrowsers available.
    Download sizes are:
Smaller than 200kb on Android 4.4 KitKat.
Smaller than 100kb on Android 5.0 Lollipop and higher.
I focus the development of this browser on it's size, speed, security and it's night mode.

    Features

Night mode, browse the web better at night.
Ad blocking, to get rid of those annoying ads.
Safe Browsing and Secure Connect, browse the web more secure.
Page Acceleration, to view faster versions of websites.
Private tabs, for if you don't want someone to view some sites in your history.
Desktop mode, for if you prefer the PC version of websites.
    • Choose between 7 of the most used search engines.
Tabs and urlbar at the bottom of your screen, useful if you want to reach it on big phones.
Developer tools, useful for if your website isn't working on phones and you want to know why.
Permission handling, for if you want to allow website A to view your location, but website B not.

    Download

You can download Peregrine Browser on XDA-Labs: https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/com.marc.browse
You can also download Peregrine Browser on the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marc.browse

    FAQ

Q: On which Android versions does this work?
A: Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 5 Lollipop and higher. You'll also need WebView (Android 5 & 6) or Google Chrome (Android 7+) to run on the latest version (older versions probably work, but are not supported).

Q: Peregrine Browser says it runs on Chrome 42. When will you upgrade to Chrome x?
A: Peregrine Browser uses the WebView component from the system.
It is recomended that you use the WebView from Google (Android 5+), because it will be updated to the latest version.
On Android 7+, Google Chrome could also be used as WebView component.
Therefore, Google needs to update that and not me.

    Q: A website I want to visit won't open.
A: We block some websites because of their content (for example, sites that could contain malware). Try disabling AdBlock or Safe Browsing.

Please include logs and basic information about your phone, Android version, Google/AOSP WebView/Chrome + version in your bug reports.
