Netguard & Offline Voice typing.

When using Netguard, google offline voice typing doesn't work.
I will try to explain. Pixel 3, Android 12.
When online, voice typing connects to google to do the voice recognition and the keyboard stays. When you are offline it uses the downloaded voice pack and you get some options where the keyboard was. That works fine without Netguard.
The issue is that when you have no internet connection & Netguard is enabled, for some reason Voice Typing insists on trying to connect to google and the errors with can't connect.
Disable Netguard and the offline Voice Typing works.

When there is no data or wifi connection, Netguard says it is blocking all traffic (even though there can't be any internet traffic). I assume Voice Typing sees the Netguard routing as a internet connection and tries to do online voice typing and fails to connect. I would of expected it to revert to offline mode but doesn't. This seems to be poor design on googles part, I would expect it to revert to offline mode if it can't connect to the server for any reason.

Strangely, if I turn on aeroplane mode, it works fine.

Although this seems to be more of a google issue than Netguard, I thought I would share this in case other were having similar issues. It would be nice if there was a fix, other than disabling Netguard as I sometime forget to re-enable.

Cheers

Has anyone met that when visiting sites through a browser (in my case, Firefox or forks), you get an HTTPS (port 443) request from the root user (UID=0)?
Screenshots - https://disk.yandex.ru/d/gtw02OWiK8br7w
How can the request from root be explained?
---

Встречал ли кто, что при посещении сайтов через браузер (в моём случае Firefox или форки) у вас появляется HTTPS (443 порт) запрос от пользователя root (UID=0)?

Как можно объяснить запрос от root?

Thank all of you for your efforts and any suggestions to my issue. Using Github version, set up only to block ads. Blocking works as expected on WiFi, but not working on cellular with WiFi disabled. Everything is default except necessary configuration changes for ad blocking. All suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

You can, but given the limited support for the project, despite millions of people using the app, there won't be any new features anymore. Bugs will be fixed and the necessary changes for new Android versions will be done though.
What about a paid subscription for any additional features? I would gladly pay for this as I already paid for the github pro version

There are already subscriptions available, but there are less than a handful of people having a subscription.
I didn't know there is a subscription-based solution! I cannot find it even know that I heard of that. Where can I see it? Maybe not enough people know about that. Maybe there is a way to make it more appealing! I'm not an expert but one who knows about marketing can give some good tips.

Marketing won't help. It was mentioned here a while ago, not that it made much difference.

Mandatory? Do you have any idea how many people would complain? My inbox would "explode" !
You are probably right, unfortunately. But at some point people would need to understand that they cannot expect that somebody would hard work on long term just for fun. Anyway I saw that is a current trend during last years that most of quality apps shift from one payment to subscription based. You cannot pleased all the people anyway!

All my public projects are meant to help people protect their privacy, and not to earn money. Therefore, all essential features are free to use, but this also means that I am free whether I want to work on these projects as well. For both of these reasons, I don't want to commercialize things.

Regarding NetGuard, I have received so many unfriendly messages, many very rude, that I am not motivated to work on new features anymore. The app will keep being maintained and supported, which means that major bugs will be fixed and that the app will be adapted for new Android versions, if necessary.

Stupid or just ignorant people are everywhere, I know is very frustrating but we cannot do anything else but to ignore them!

Five years or so ago, this was not a problem, but the world has changed and now there are so many condescending people, that it isn't fun to work on a project like this anymore, also considering the general support for the project, or rather the absence of it. The "mix" just isn't right anymore.

Maybe you cannot see it here in the thread but I recently tried a few different similar apps and I found out that are many people saying in different forums and social media like reddit that your app is superior to all the rest. I personally consider the same after testing all the other apps.

Dear Friend, don't allow other people to let you down. Few opinions of people who truly understand your work, spent some time to understand it is more valuable than the raging fuss of people who can't invest few hours into understanding the app and always seek instant gratification... There are a lot of people who really appreciate the amazing piece of software your provided. Thank you.

There are always people who install an app but do not understand the app. You shouldn't get upset about these bad reviews.

You have the best ratings in the firewall apps. That has a lot more validity.

It's often a bit of a struggle for me when I have Netguard set too restrictive again. But that's not Netguard's fault. When I see all the traffic, it's just a small restriction.

I'm still hoping for some further development.

Just as sure, I am very uncomfortable without Netguard.

Of course, for each device and for each activated Netguard was donated. This app is worth it to me. Even without further development

The simple fact is that the negative messages I receive daily, more than outweigh the positive ones. If I say negative, that's expressed mildly because it includes harassment, stalking and even death threats.

I released a new version and there were seven thanks. Any idea how much rubbish I received in the same time?

I think most people in the same situation as me would have cancelled the project a long time ago. I don't want to let down loyal users though.

I have no understanding for these annoyances.
Netguard is not compulsorily required or has a monopoly. If someone doesn't want to use Netguard, then let them not use it.
Unfortunately, it is also a reflection of our society.

I will continue to support Netguard.

You certainly know that the haters are much louder. But there is a very large grateful fan base.

I changed my mind and I might again because:

"Ii would be a pleasure for me to find and kill you :)

    you Bastardos"

I hope it is clear now what I need to deal with rather frequently.
🤣🤣 These noble souls have mastered the art of instigating/ triggering you. And why won't they when you publicly express how you feel.

Much of all the negative comments are a result of how you react or respond to them. Stop reacting to it (both publicly and privately) and learn to ignore them.

When you stop reacting, they'll stop bothering you.

Dear Marcel, I'm a longtime user of FairEmail (the pro version).
I've just installed Netguard via GitHub and immediately paid for the pro version, without hesitation, as I know you are a great developer (and also because the pro features are really useful).
Cheer up, and ignore the haters...
