Can someone please help. I have the FRF72 installed 2.2 on non rooted Nexus and have installed the flash 10.1 beta on marked, but when i try hbo.com for instance, it says "your device does not support flash". Which browser should I be using if the stock doesn't work?

Hi there, guys! I had health issues.

Let's clarify things.

1. Currently Flash 10.1 works ONLY on 2.2!
2. HTC devices have Flash Lite!
3. 2.1 lacks proper NPAPI, so Flash will never run there easily.

As I sad before, the only sane way is to port WebKit from Froyo sources and they were released just last week when I was lying in bed. I will start back-porting WebKit today.

Thanks for this, works on my un-rooted HTC Hero 2.1 (euro-version)... But it does lack quite a bit tho, specially if i try to watch movies on streaming sites, i often only get 3-6 fps.

But the good thing is that the basale works now, now it's about finding out how to maximize it's capabilities - nice work dev! :)

I dont know if this makes any difference. I installed both the adobe flash player in the first post, and the flash_for_21 from the second page on my htc eris running the kaosfroyo rom. In both cases after install when I tried to open the browser(any browser) it would start to load, but after a few seconds it would close. I got this result with both apk's installed seperately. As soon as I uninstalled the apk the browser would again function properly. My guess is the armv6 processor is the problem with the Eris.

Hope this helps.

Stock Hero Android 2.1

I've just installed APK via ASTRO and...
* it shows on the test kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html that it is 10.1.123.404 :)
* it opens regular flash content (i've tried thefwa) :)
* it failed to open fp10.1 dedicated flex app i wrote :/
* it works really slow :/

I'm working, but I lack time. At the moment I have the following experience:

1. Launching browser and visiting a web page with flash movie.
2. Flash player creates temporary cache folder on SD called .adobe/Flash_Player/assetsCache/blabla.
3. Flash fails silently.
4. Browser runs as without Flash.

It looks like NP plugin interface is not properly implemented in 2.1. I will try to put binary from Froyo inside Eclair - if I'm correct about partial NP API implementation then rewritting it without sources would be an overkill.

Pretty funny, yeah?

So Google failed or Acer ? If Google failed = they are not so perfect as they are trying to be ///// If Acer failed = they are new in Android stuff so I forgive them that.

Thanks for this upload. Downloading now :)

And I know people keep reciting "it's in the Market, get it there..."

It really helps me out that you uploaded this since I'm currently deployed in the desert and don't have reliable/affordable data access. 4.1MB that I don't have to download over the air is a huge deal to me.

    Thanks again!

    glad I could help

Here's recompiled APK for 2.1. It installs, but browser does not "see" it. Here's explanation why.

Android 2.2 has a new feature called com.google.android.feature.GOOGLE_PLUGIN. And Flash usesit to embed itself inside browser. So browser in 2.1 does not see plugin.

BUT!There's another thing inside - a permission called android.webkit.permission.PLUGIN. It is already used by Flash Lite on HTC devices. So my APK will work and replace Flash Lite. But I did not test, because I do own... Acer Liquid!

So! HTC users! Try this one! And if it will work instead of your flash lite - report. Your help will be used to port full-blown Flash to other 2.0 and 2.1 devices (yeah! 2.0 is also supported!).
