Are you on the same release (15254.369)? If you are, I must have missed something.

I copied the files, installed the cert and the dependencies, then the app. But the screen just refreshes and nothing is installed.

Sorry to be a pain, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

I re-downloaded these from your repository on GitHub along with the cert and the appxsym files. I used the Device Portal instead but I still get an error.

Not very helpful:
Failure reason: error 0x800413A0: While processing the request, the system failed to register the windows.repositoryExtension extension due to the following error: <Error message string not found>.. Failure text: Unavailable(0x800413a0)

Maybe it's just me. Like I said, I gave up on learning to program this stuff. Looks like I need to get the basics down too. The Device Portal seems very straight forward. I linked to the appx and each of the three dependencies. But still get the same error. Did I need to run the cert first? Or copy it to a directory?

No this is impossible, or almost impossible, applications are different as they save data in different ways on other mobile platforms.

Developing such type of application would require extremely hard skill of both platform and every application you want support and can never work with all application.

So the answer is no, prepare yourself to lose all data.

Unfortunately, it is only a test phase. There are many applications that cannot read the data size properly. We look forward to your official release to be able to perform a complete backup and restore on any mobile phone across platforms.

All times i try to deploy AppDataManageTool_2.2.0.0_ARM.appx to my Lumia 1520 via Device Portal, it shows the following error: 'Failure reason: Failed to start deployment. Failure text: Package could not be registered. (0x80073cf6)'

How do i can solve that?

Check the AppXDeployment-Server event log for more info.

Update. It was Interop Tools 2.x bug. Previous one 1.9.x fine.

Any hint on why when backing up apps some files are 0kb even when I'm sure they aren't? Could it be due to apps locking files and restricting access to App Data Manage??

I have an old Lumia 640 LTE. Recently I decided to turn it on again and I installed an update, so my current OS is Windows 10 (v.1703, build 10.0.15063.1868). I heard about this app making backups for apps and I want to backup some of my apps, including WhatsApp. Unfortunately, it seems not to work properly.

I correctly setup everything, since other apps, like Telegram, backupped, without any problems. WhatsApp appears to be "always calculating" the size. Even if I'll press the "Backup" button, it will close itself eventually, after some time. I read about some problems with x50 devies, but mine is a 640, so it's not a problem. I read also about a problem with BIG apps, and my Whatsapp is like 800MB, described here:

Yes, i have exactly the same problem with the Lumia 730.
That's very bad, if i couldn't backup my WhatsApp.
