30 mins is the set interval by OS for regular updating.. more intensive checking (more battery power hungry) will update at shorter interval.
I have done multiple tests and the difference in battery drain (30min vs. 10min) is minimal, almost non existent. Less than 1% per day. Been using the 10 minute setting since the app was released.

it is a feature of the OS
background agent that updates live tile is added to the schedule for 14 days
after this it's disconnected and you need to switch ON/OFF live tile update in Battery Status settings
Not so. As long as you open they app at least every 14 days the Background Task won't expire. Battery Meter will simetimes turn off it's Background Task on soft reset, but that only happens about 1 in 5 times for me. Always set to 10 minute interval, and always works. Even with Battery Saver enabled.

re-install didn't work either. Could it be a conflict with another app?
Update- got it working by removing the home brew folders app.
Update 2- and now it's stopped again. Worked well for maybe 1 day after removing folders app.
A recent version of the homebrew folder app did conflict with Battery Meter as I pointed out in a previous post. But the most recent version of Folders fixed the problem. Both apps are playing nice together again on my Surround and Lumia 900.
Except for the brief encounter with the Folders app, Bettery meter has worked perfectly for me since the day I installed. I have run numerous tests and monitor my battery drain (every 10 minutes) daily without fail. Battery Meter is always working. Also, as a side note, although Battery Saver (built in to the OS) disables Background Tasks, it does not affect apps that do not make calls out to the Internet. So Battery Meter, Network Dashboard, and other similar apps will continue to run normally.
Wish I could help with your problem.
