Bookmarks Easy Import

This program import Bookmarks from a ".htm" file exported from a Pc Browser, then you can open links in your favorite Browser.

This program, if your Stock Browser manage it, IMPORT FOLDERS TOO; it has been tested with ".htm" files exported from Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Opera Browser.

The import function in the Stock Android Browser Database could not run on some devices; in this scenario the program works with a proprietary database where the folders will be managed.

Your privacy is guaranteed, nothing will be uploded to any server.

NON-ROOTED DEVICES:

Users of non-rooted devices can open links in their favorite Browser using program's interface; in this scenario the program works with a proprietary database.

ROOTED DEVICES:

You can use Bookmarks directly from Stock Browser; of course you can open links in yours favorite Browser using program's interface.

USAGE (not-rooted and rooted devices):

You must first export your Pc Browser's Bookmarks to a ".htm" file (example: with Microsoft Internet Explorer use: Menu-> File-> Import and Export-> Export to a file-> Favorites) then copy "bookmark.htm" to any folder on the device; then run the program and select that file.

Advanced Functions include:

. FULL imported Bookmarks utilization.
. option to SORT ALPHABETICALLY Stock Browser's Bookmarks also without importing anything.
. option to ONLY DELETE Stock Browser's Bookmarks without importing anything (USEFUL FOR CLEANING UP).
. option to MANUAL BACKUP Android Stock Browser's Bookmarks and History.
. option to RESTORE Android Stock Browser's Bookmarks and History from previous backup.

The phone must be the root (for now ... I'm studying).

Is your phone rooted?

If No you must get root permission to use my program.

If yes...strange...try to assign permission to "browser db" (use Root explorer) to Other..

Please tell me...

I chmod 644 browser.db and it worked, maybe you could add that to your program so it fixes the permissions automatically in case they are not set...

1) Can you please add the apk file here?
2) I am using ICS based roms ... I think that ICS browser info is kept in browser2.db, so will it still work?

1) Added to first post

2) If the structure of db is equal: yes. You can try to select your db (first save a backup copy!) by deselecting the option "Android default database".

Been looking for a way to sync Opera on my droids with my PC without using Link, thanks:). My first try was unsuccessful however. Same permission issue as posted earlier (resolved now). 2nd try hung but that might have been because of the 2k+ bookmarks I tried to import at once :p I'll be sure to give it another try.

Where I would find the opera's bookmarks database please? I have difficulty locating it.

Do you mean how to export Opera Bookmarks from PC and import them in the phone with my program?

Could you explain better what are you going to do?

Hi,

I'm actually looking for the database to export my bookmarks to sync them with MS IE. It means the bookmarks structure will be converted to folder structure. Once I know where the database is then I will write a small tool (non-android) to do that, eventually.

I found Opera's online service to sync bookmarks extremely painful to use. I don't mind copying the database bookmark over to my laptop on regular basis.

I hope my earlier question was appropriate in your thread, if it wasn't then please accept my apology.

If you mean Opera for Windows, look here: "C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Application Data\Opera\Opera\bookmarks.adr"

(Windows Xp)
