I agree. It worked somewhat unreliably on my German S8 with the latest firmware and app updates. However, after restarting the phone once, Google Assistant only opens in text mode anymore, rendering it useless for me. Changing between Performance and Basic mode, restarting again etc. didn't help.
All remap apps are based on a workaround as samsung blocks direct remapping now.

Working fine here. Did you change any settings in google app?
I think the settings are all the default settings. The preferred input method is set to "speech input". The only "change" I made is probably that I did the voice recording thing to be able to unlock it by saying "ok google". Also, when I say "ok google" it does take speech input right away.

Bixby global action
Bixby service
Bixby vision
Bixby dummy
But now I notice I do not get bixby popup when I use launch app ( I did get popup before I disabled services) but if I use auto rotate on/off, I still get bixby appear... Sorry to disappoint you
After not pressing button for a while there is a long delay in opening app when I press it again.. is this somehow avoidable?
I guess thats because bixby loads all content before it launches.

Bixby keeps resetting my accessibility settings, for bxActions and also greenify and tasker. I've removed the apps from device optimisation already but the accessibility settings aren't sticking. Any other ideas? Thanks.
Maybe try to uninstall Greenify, doesnt do too much on android 7 anyways..
