Very detailed Deluxe Moon review from Droid Bros.:

Fixed your URLs.

You might also email the reviewers of that and tell them to fix the GPS pieces. They imply at the top that the GPS runs the whole time in the program..

The app’s permissions as stated when you download it say that it has access to both your network location and GPS location — however, you can not disable GPS location under the settings, which leads me to believe that the app defaults to GPS location so long as it’s available. This will drain the battery, so better keep those Moon-gazing sessions brief, folks.
And apparently later they found the settings...

Under the hood, we are given options to control different aspects of the location, time, and date settings. You can set Deluxe Moon to determine your location either automatically — using the phone’s GPS — by country, or by coordinates.

I find it very confusing, that nowhere in this thread is stated that this is an paid application. Even on their website is stated "This application is distributed as Freeware", with a Donate button beneath...

are you saying that the app is free on the market?
i'm just getting a search result for "Deluxe Moon $ 1,99" - don't get me wrong i'm glad to buy it just wanted to check
At the present time we have only a $1.99 version available for Android.
Question: is a free version [with limited functionality] appreciated?

good question.

i see two use cases, one for the free and one for the paid version:

free version: limited functionality, not that many data to display, just some graphics demos, etc.
to show off device-capabilities or to try out if the full version would be nice to have

paid version: all the bells and whistles
people who are living according to moon phases, astronomers, etc.

personally i would just use the free one to show off my the capabilities of my device ;)

I am just curious as to why it is free for one platform, but not all? No disrespect or anything, but just curious.
Ya me too, doesn't really make sense??

Yes a free version would be appreciated, maybe instead of limited functionality maybe ad driven would be better.

I am just curious as to why it is free for one platform, but not all? No disrespect or anything, but just curious.
At the present time the following platforms are quite interesting for mobile software development:

- Android video
- iPhone video
- Windows Phone 7 video

WM 6 is not (and never was) our main target. Though we are happy that 34000+ people have downloaded Deluxe Moon for Windows Mobile and we got quite positive feedback. That's why we have to continue support for this platform.

As requested we are working on Deluxe Moon Lite for Android. This application is supposed to be free and available in many countries where paid applications are invisible.
