The original thread
i made an app with tasker app factory that enables ethernet
i looked every where xda/google and did not find any thing.
so i made one i hope you all like it, this is the first app i made so it may have bugs.
it should work on most if not all phone/tablets that are android 4.x.x up

this app uses:

svc wifi disable
svc wifi enable
svc data disable
svc data enable

#!/system/bin/sh
busybox ifconfig eth0 up
dhcpcd eth0

for this app to work for you you need:
otg cable
usb ethernet adapter
busybox and
root.

root is for
svc wifi disable
svc wifi enable
svc data disable
svc data enable
busybox ifconfig eth0 up
dhcpcd eth0
and see what the app dose in superSU logs

i hope you all like it
............................INJOY!.............................

If you want an app that needs wifi
And you want it to run on ethernet
Go here

This is the USB Ethernet adapter that I use
with my nexus 7 and note 3

Working on:
doesn't really matter it's up to your device's kernel

You can also get the app from Google play

superSU is needed for this app

Updated! but the bug to enable eth0 more than once a boot is still here.im working on it.

OOOOOK, you might wanna share this in the Android Stick Computers section as well.

I have loads of apps in my Android Box that wont update through ethernet, or wont work at all since they strictly require Wi-Fi, will this fix that? This is a non-Note 3 question remember :p

I will try that.

No. if an app checks wifi state then no.
That happens on my nexus7 too and it has the driver for Ethernet in the Kernel.
So I don't know how to fix that.
I have been looking around for a way to falsify Wifi state but with no luck.

I can't seem to fix the bug about enabling eth0 more then once a boot.
Im thinking to making 2 notifications to enable/disable
Or should I make two apps one to disable and enable.
What do you think I should do?

    V1.3.4
Did some changes to the ping
Added: a fail safe that you will not accidentally enable eth0 without the usb ethernet adapter connected
Also it will tell you if your device will work with the app. If it won't enable then it won't work.
But device may still work on a newer android version?

Is is not to tether internet from your phone to computer.
This is for to get internet from a ethernet cable from router to phone.

I hope this cleared up all the confusion you may have had.
    2
    V1.4.4
Fixed: the disabe notification not disabling or repeating the enable event. Cheer!
Changed: app icon to something nicer.
    Changed: updated flash text.
    Changed: event order again.

I will leave it there for XDA
    I made it for XDA
