I'm looking for an app that will let me see what my current cpu speeds are at any given time. suggestions? I see a few mentioned but l'm unsure which is the most accurate, and takes into account multiple cores ( as well as the 5 the core).
Download "Cool Tool" from the amazon market.I think that's what you're looking for.It works fine for me.

Greetings,
I've made a little app for setting the CPU speed on the TF201 up to 1.6 ghz. It may be the easiest overclocker yet.

Step 1. Install the Apk.
Step 2. There is no step 2. :)

Once this application is installed, you can switch speeds as usual using the ASUS statusbar. The speeds become (by default, but there is a configuration menu) as follows:
Power save: 1.0 ghz
Balanced: 1.3 ghz
Performance: 1.6 ghz

Root is required, but a locked bootloader is fine. The app makes no permanent changes to anything, and uninstalls cleanly (although a reboot may be required after uninstall)

Enjoy. :)

Hm, I dont have root and the app is working great with 21 update.
Made a couples of benches and the all say me it is clocked at 1.6 ghz.

@ Edit nevermind.
Read 1 page befor and there stands all I needed to knowe :-(

Can we go below the 1GHz?
only through system tuner or set CPU app. plus its not advised unless you are completely sure and confident in what you are doing. set it too low and your tablet might never wake up..lmfao

1ghz is low enough. tegra3 itself does a good job at managing speeds even lower. anything 500mhz or lower is the companion core working. Anything higher is the main cores @ work.

Can you make this app to unlock 1.7 or 1.8 GHz on performance mode?? it was b great!

You need a custom kernel to get those cpu states. 1500 &1600 were already included in the stock kernal. So the ez overclock just gives us rooted folk access.

You need a custom kernel 4 that.
The stock kernel only supports 1.6 ghz, if I am not mistaken.

If you want 1.8 ghz try this, when you are unlocked and have CWM istalled.

I know for that. But i dont want to UNLOCK my prime because I will lose my warranty! So i looking for another methods..

Edit Download works fine

Sorry quys
does anyone have a copy of this app and can post it or can anyone tell me what to do with this codepic, cause I can't download the app. I am ready to test my hopefully final prime on its overclock behaviour and would really like to try this.

Thanks for helping me out.
Cheers

Edit: Nevermind, tried again and downloaded now .. and now let's beat records

any updates on bringing 1.7Ghz overclock to this app?
Hi, I did get 1.7 ghz working a while back with a rather complex kernel module but it was unstable and my tablet crashed under load within minutes every time I activated it. I lost interest and stopped working on it.
I'd recommend the unlocked bootloader/custom kernel route if 1.6 isn't enough.

Thanks for your awesome work. For those that aren't willing to unlock, this is still a great option. Any chance you will release your work on github or post the source in a zip or tar for further study?

Hi guys,

After going through the posts in here, I am trying to work out:

Under stock:
Powersaving: 1
Balanced: 1.2
Performace: 1.3 (four cores) or 1.4 (single core)

Question 1
With EzOverclock - Say if I set the Performance Mode to 1.6 - Does it hit 1.6 on single core and still remain at 1.3 four cores max (depending on load of course) or can it hit for example 1.4 or 1.5 on all four cores?

Question 2
Also, am I right in thinking, for example, under Balanced Mode, if I set it to 1.2, the number of cores involved can be one, two, three or all four depending on the load?

multiple cores. how many, not sure. get the app called System Tuner. they have a free version. you can see in real time how many cores are active under load. the device will be needed to be used a good amount or use an app that taxes the CPU to see the spikes go up that high. 3d games likely. you can even use system tuner to record your CPU loads/speeds to see over a period of time.

all in all, this app does everything fine. no real need to worry about how many cores loading up. there are other threads where me n others discussed this into detail.

I do know a way to have your prime running all 4 cores @ 1.6Ghz at the same time, all the time. drains the battery alot faster & prime can heat up faster than normal. although the prime does have a built in safety that it will throttle down speeds if its cpu gets too hot. that kind of power is not really needed as there aren't any games or apps out now that really stresses the prime to where it needs more power. Even at stock speeds, prime power is Well more than enough for anything you throw at it.

You might not be ready for that kind of power yet..lmfao.

lol, i feel like a Jedi apprentice there.

Especially for Question 1 (above) - I am just curious how the "throttling" works. I want to set the EzOverclock at 1.5 and hoping that --> 1.5 will be max on single core and 1.4 on multiple cores (depending on load) - however I can't find anywhere how this "throttling" works - I have CPU Spy installed and it appears that I am split 50-50 at 1.4 and 1.3 under stock right now.

But like you said, things are running smooth-ish under stock, which I agree. Just the occasional lags which I thought would be nice to get rid of.

But thanks for the reply. Force be with ya.

I do have a thread called Whitepapers for tegra3. I have the PDF files for the very detailed info Nvidia released on how tegra3 works & operates. you can download the PDF files. its a great read.
