This thread has been created to provide Poco F1 feedback to @Arnova8G2 regarding his port of the Google Camera app.

Describe your experience (mostly what doesn't work as expected)
Provide logcats: the dev does not have your phone, so logs are needed if you want him to fix stuff (How to take logcats?)
Mention @Arnova8G2 when you post your feedback

Known Issue on Poco F1
  • HDR+ does not work
    Shutter lag under normal and low-light conditions
    No portrait mode support
    Photos in well lit conditions are beaten by Redmi Note 5 Pro running GCam-5.1.018-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.3b1.apk (Arnova8G2, 2018-08-25)
    Video mode does not work

Crash at launch means it's not functioning at all?
Is there any other gcam which is working?(maybe mi8 or mi mix 2s camera port)

Camera samples from Arnovav7 beta test9 are aweful. Please look at samples from Poco F1 (V7 beta test9) vs Redmi Note 5 Pro (v8.1 beta3)

Redmi Note 5 Pro - 7.9MB

Poco F1 - 1.9MB (For some reason, it does not capture beyond 2-2.5mb) and hence loses details in images

Redmi Note 5 pro - Zoom (Look at the details on the pink basket, it is so clear. Look at the pink comb, and you can see the bristles clearly)

Sanjav, photos are again bad with 7.9.7 APK. I have a Redmi Note 5 pro, and Poco is not able to match the photo quality. As I said, we would require @Arnova8G2 to look into our phone. I am ready to donate $10 if he is willing to help us out. Other members could similarly contribute generously for his efforts.

Damn, I didn't look at the file sizes and thought MI improved the stock cam optimization a lot as it was capturing a lot better than Gcam. So it's definitely capable of massive improvement with Gcam. I hope it isn't hard for Arnova, Serjo & BSG to port stuff as the camera sensor is closer to Pixel 2 and other phones like MI 8 would also be benefited from this. We can tag Arnova & BSG after the sufficient logs are gathered.

Yes, HDR+ works, and the photos come out great. Photos are nearly 10mb with highest setting. I just clicked 2 snaps, will post detailed review later today evening.

I have this also installed . But in my case photos with the one I linked are better than this.
Also shutter lag in this is terrible.
Do u have any particular settings to make it better

    I'm not promising anything, but I got my Poco yesterday.
    Waiting for it to be unlocked.

    *If* I get a chance, I'll look into this, but I've not played with Google camera decompiling so would have to start from scratch. Anyone know any decent walkthroughs or info to get a head start?

    There's a few other things I'd like to look at working on instead. Gsi/aosp seems a much higher priority as I'm already hating miui.

    Time is a bit of premium lately, so going to have to do what I can when I can..
    If I can assist others with more time it might work out better

    So far what's not working:
    Slow mo
    Motion photo
    Photobooth
    Sometimes if you manually focus and no activity for 5 seconds in the viewfinder you can't take any photos anymore and you need to force close the app
