Guys Guys Guys no panic at all Dr.Mol of course you dont have ro.build.device i dont have it at all.

Arnova sayd that he will write it like this when releasing the new version as we doing test here to figure out the Flashlight Bug to be resolved and to start working properly.

For that reason when he develop the Gcam how do you think ONE app can working fine with alot complete different devices? Of course via this BUILD names for example.

He will write in the code our device and when a user with HTC 10 install the Gcam in his device will use the sepcific configs that Arnova wrote for this MODEL device in order everything to work and be optimized.

The same APK installed from lets say Mi5 User will use the configs that are mean to be used for the Mi5 Users this is how the things work in general and how is posible the same APK to work on complete diferrent device the same way and optimized.

So the ro.build is for the Development side inside the app this is how i understand the things of course you dont have to have it in the build.prop i dont have it too but i atached already a screenshoot from the buildprop and Arnova know better what he is doing. Thats why i think this ro.build is for the APK side nothing to do with our build prop just have to tell the device to use the pmewl settings.

Im not sure if he write only ro.build.device=htc_pme that this will be enought to work on ALL HTC 10 devices or he have to type it with the specific version like
ro.build.device=htc_pmewl

I think as universal code pme that all device will recognize it but like i sayd we are just doing test to see the flashlight if one settings WORK perfectly fine for specific device then in the strings of the comand where is the code you can write it lets say

50 Models to use the same Configs
Another 20 Models to use different configs
and so on just with adding the device code.

In my Understanding and what @Arnova8G2 is trying to do from long long time is this:

Universal Google Camera based on a Pixel2 that works perfectly fine on most devices on the Market.

Without this Codes names and ro.build configs this is not posible because when one setting for a device are perfect for the others will be the worse.

To be as easy as posible for everyone i did detailed tests including Photos and Logcats also will compare it with the Latest Best Build so for for now in this case will be easy for you to track the diference.

The latest Most working Build for was that i gona use as a base is:
GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7beta-test-1.apk

In all Test i was using Pixel ZSL HDR+

1. Back Camera Crash in Low light, however not all the time, from many attempts i was able to capture a picture in the same low light ROOM in order to capture a nice logcat.

So in the Atachment are 2 Logcat`s one of the Crash and one of the successfull taking the photo in the same conditins.

2.Front Facing camera in low light is Crashing as well when have to be used the Flashlight:

NOTE: In version GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7beta-test-1.apk is working amazing in all situation even in Black Dark perform perfect thats why i use this here for a BASE comparison.

3. Enabling the Improve Sharpness, after the HDR+ process finish again the Purple Spots/Artifacts appear on the light sources like befor im ataching picture

NOTE: In version GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7beta-test-1.apk is working amazing in all situations and never had this Purple Artifacts.

4. Enabling Improve in low light - gives always Purple TINT in the whole photo, ataching photo.

NOTE: This problem is present in the GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7beta-test-1.apk as well.

However in GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V6-Beta13-14 the Low Light Enabling was working fine without giving the purple TINT.

So this is the reason why im using as a BASE version:

GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7beta-test-1.apk because in this build the problem is only BACK Camera flash crash and Improve Low light gives PINK TINT thats it.

@Arnova8G2 what the Logcat of the Back Camera crash says, im asking because i have an idea and Breaktru of this nasty crash what is causing it!

Im starting to think that maybe it is not just flashlight related problem from all the test in the past one month it is posible to be something with the FOCUS in low light when the Flashlight have to be used.

Like states above also was able to do success photo in the dark room conditions sometimes when im able to take a picture what i notice is when i press the button for shooting the Flash Light appear ON like it shold be and then the camera stay like this for few seconds and it is not FOCUSED! even doesnt try to focus with the circle in the cases that i was able to take a few shoots in the dark i manually press the viewfinder to force the FOCUS to focus in front of me and in some cases this is working but not always.

Also when im able to take a photo in Low Light scenario this are the things that im observing.

Presing the Button the flash goes ON and Stay ON then the circle for the Focus Appear and i can clearly see that the Image is focused if this heppans after that the Circle start to Load u know what i mean and in tis cases we always get the photo done.


How the Crash look like from the real expirience is this:

You pressing the button to shoot the Flash Light appear ON but after that you dont see that the camera image is focused ( looking like the Camera is trying to Focus without success) after few seconds when the focus is not posible the app crash ( Looking like it reaches some time pingout for flash ON and when cant focus well its force close)

Thats why im starting to think that maybe the problem is not just the flashlight maybe the flashlight is OKAY but the FOCUS under flashlight or the Focus in LOW light situation can cause this to heppans.

Thats why im asking you what info you was able to get from the Logcats and maybe this idea/info that im sharing is helpfull.

ALSO very important Note that lead again to the FOCUS is this sitation.

Lets say im going to take picture in Dark ROOM will shoot the wall in front of me and the wall is lets say 1 metres from me ( very close) so in this case can take picture with the back camera and autoflashlight)

But if i try to shoot in the dark far away object or lets say Outside my window or in a bigger room that the distance of the wall is bigger its seems again that the Focus cant focus well in front of me and the camera crashes.

So i was thinking alot of the times well if the FlashLight Cause this crash then why if i shoot close up obejct that the camera can focus easy in front of me he take the shoots and why if the obejct is far alway cant.

This lead me to think that we got problems with the focus in Low Light sitation more specific this can be the PD laser Autofocus or just the regular Gcam Focus.

A Breaktru, Im sure now! I decide to test this in the practic and YES.

Ataching picture the picture is taken with Pixel ZSL HDR+ in Black Dark ROM with no any light Source only the Autoflashlight but like you can see im holding and object in front of the camera with my hand so after i press and the flashlight goes on the obejct is focused and from all attemps im always taking a Shoot without any crash or problem if i remove my hand from there and try to shoot object that is more far away then the CRASH will heppans. This prove it is something with the FOCUS not the Flashlight i guess.

Second Image even in Portrait mode the Back camera Work in the same Black Dark room only using the Flashlight because the Object (I have to call someone for the test ) Is close to the Camera and it is focused fine! )

Note i did the test with V7 Test 1 but it is the same in all other that have this Low Light Force Crash.

So when we talk for the FOCUS problem Back in your Version 1.2 stable when you was editing something with the Focus we dont have any problem with Pixel ZSL HDR+ in Low Light to Focus im giving this as an info because maybe there is the Answer how this version focus!

Also tracking down the builds all your Old Builds not based on the Pixel2 works i will Exclude 1.6 and 1.7 because you know there Pixel ZSL HDR+ doesnt work but lets say

Arnova 1.2 i was trying to find out what was the change this Pixel HDR+ config always to work in low light and to focus.

And i found out that early in version 1.1 just befor the release of the Stable 1.2

Thats why i think if in Pixel2Mod the Focus code is touched this cause some problems! and also leter on when releasing the official stable Arnova 1.2

thats the main reason the Pixel config to work perfectly fine and focus with autoflashlight :

So the Big change comes in 1.1 by restoring all focus codes!

Im 99.9% Sure after all this Tests that this is Focus in Low Light Problem and the Flashlight is just working fine.

It is the FOCUS in low light that cause us so much trouble!

Sorry for the low Quality Video but its really hard to Shoot video in the Dark when using with the other hands Other devices.

Turning off the Light complete dark ROM using Pixel ZSL HDR+

when trying to shoot the camera seems to cant focus very well and crashesh.

Imideately when repeat the same but just put my hand in front its get Focused because it is close and the Camera take Super Quality Picture FOCUSED.

for Test i used v7 Test1 its seems that in this version only the FOCUS cause problem and Improve in Low light give Pink Tint thats it!

Ohh My Goshh did you actully read what i wrote?

THE PROBLEM is very ODD and im trying my best to represend the Bug everyone have it YOU TOO!

You are shooting a Close Up Object and behind the Object is a WHITE WALL this is why you was able to take the photo. Because the Camera FOCUS it well.

TONIGHT in complete darknes PLEASE without any artificial LIght TRY TO SHOOT THE NIGHT SKY to see what will gona heppand!

I can bet that this Bug heppans when the object is Dark in front of you is far away and the camera can focus it well.

Rest assured, you're not just talking to yourself. I'm sure I'm one of many 10 owners who are really appreciative of the time and energy you've invested in a better working Gcam.

Aside from wanting to say thank you for your efforts, should mention I've tested several builds over the past couple weeks and come close to posting something erroneous like others have. Even as an avid follower of this thread and a couple other related ones, info can get jumbled and I'll occasionally (and so far, mistakenly) think I've discovered a different result from yours or others who have tested. All this is to say i can understand why some people who have just found this thread, and/or not read carefully, fully, or twice (as a lot of info requires to be digested) end up posting something in total contradiction to something you previously stated.

That said, anyone who intends to post testing results: PLEASE read prior posts to ascertain what you are even testing, and more importantly, how to interpret and compare your results with tsalta's, or others.

Knowing that any plea including this one will still fall on some deaf ears (or blind eyes, as in this case), don't waste your time with such generously long replies to errant postings, tsalta. Thanks again

Yes still ot Nougat no hurry to update (for many reasons) also i ive asked few people with Oreo to test it exactly the scenario with low light far object to see if is ROM Android related but it is not its still present in Oreo.

To be clear if i want to take picture in the dark low light scenario in Home envoirment i know how to do it without the app to crash.

Just will position the camera that why that will be able to have what to focus in front, but if i want to shoot landscape outside in the dark i cant.

however guys Version 7 Test 1 work amazing with superb Quality for now this is the most stable for us and can be used perfectly in good light source.

Instead to reciving a private messages with questions related of the Gcam in not the Developer if i was i will be able to fix it! I wish but i cant the only person can fix this is Arnova period.

I stop to write since i was trying my best to nail the problem of the camera using it inder HTC 10 because we have very good hardware but lack of development and software.

So i will repeat it for the last time as i prove it several times ALL Pixel2 Based mods based on the very 1st one up to the last have the same Problem it is in the BASE i know this because even other Builds who use this BASE have absolutely the same problem and it is the FOCUS problem under low light using the Pixel HDR+ ZSL config however this is the best HDR+ config for us because its seems like the HTC like it and we get the best colors/quality using it.

All mods by ArtZ in the past as well, Skulshady, Cstrike have the same Low light crash and what is the common in them? well they all use the Pixel2 BASE to make the ports for specific devices they own.

Later befor few days BSG did a new update on his version called FINAL 3.3 well never befor i had a crash using BSG version with Pixel Config ZSL HDR+ in the latest same problem in low light... and guess what is new in this FINAL 3.3 version well it is the PIXEL ZSL HDR+ config taken from the Pixel2MOD base.

So i dont think we are going to have a stable Gcam version at all if the Focus doesnt get fixed i think can become even worse if all other devs start to use Pixel2Mod as a base for Mods after sometime all ports will have the same Low light Focus problem.

To be even more specific like Arnova stated it is Low Light FOCUS DISTANCE problem.

SO all the HTC users have ONLY two Options! Here

I'm using this version on unrooted Oreo and get HDR+ just fine, except in very low-light situations that are also detailed above.
