Not sure what has changed on v8 Beta1...
But the "power saving mode" is missing in the default refresh rates menu?
Installing v8 alpha10 brings back the power saving mode slider!
I am using OneUI 5.0 beta with adaptive refresh rate limited to 60Hz max with power saving mode on.

Try adjust brightness a little bit higher. On very low brightness conditions, Samsung disables 96Hz on adaptive (this is related to screen calibration). Unfortunately this is beyond control of GMH.

Oh, sorry. We thought it's not useful on OneUI5.0. Will restore it in the next update.
No, you are correct!
It does not serve any purpose... when power saving is switched on then we can still benefit from adaptive mode, but not full 120Hz.
No need to restore it as I understand why you've done it now.

That's stange. We tested it on same device with OneUi4.1 and it is working as it is.

I did experience refresh rate being stuck at 60Hz on one occasion with the alpha builds. Turning "power saving mode" on and off from quick settings enabled 120Hz again, strange.
You need to set "refresh rate mods" to "Adaptive"

Yes. I tried to clear cache, data and I even uninstalled the beta version and returned to the .58 stable version and gave the permission. PSM just dropped working even on .58 stable version. I remembered that I used to report you the same issue and you fixed in the build around .53. Could you please check? There must be something minor thing wrong. Thanks
Update: I have done several trouble shooting steps until I thought that I can give a try of rebooting. For whatever reason the issue has been resolved. 120hz is working on PSM.
However there is another issue I found about the option of PSM on screen off. If you enable this option and leave the screen off for more than 3 minutes then unlock the device, you will notice that the power saving mode is still applied. Please note that there is no issue if the screen off for a minute or two.

On beta release net speed indicator shows up randomly even if its turned off in settings. you have to turn it on and off to make it disappear from notification bar.
Hey Guys i installed the Galaxy Max Hz on my S21 Ultra and forced the 48Hz , my screen started to flicker whenever it switches from 120hz to 48hz , it is noticeable as a blinking in dark areas

happened to me four times, cant replicate it too, it just happened randomly. Also first beta that I am using is beta3.
It happened to me once, force closing the app solved the issue.
@tribalfs Would it be possible to add the indicators on the right side of the notch, next to the regular indicators?
Setting PSM on when screen off sets refresh rate to 60 but doesn't revert when screen on

Galaxy Max Hz background service is highly optimized. Background battery usage p is very negligible .

This app targets older android sdk in order to control refresh rates without ADB setup or root. Just tap OK the dialog that says "This app was built for an older version of Android...." when opened for the first time. If OK button is not visible, just tap the blank space on the lowest portion of the dialog.
If google play protect will prompt during install that the app is built for older version of android and doesn't include the latest privacy protections, you can ignore it and proceed to the installation. For privacy related concern, please refer to FAQ No. 3.

I am sorry for this bad news. OneUI5 already patched the bug (a good and welcome bug) that is being used by GMH to bypass 60 Hz limitation. We didn't know yet if we can find another one we can use to automatically bypass 60 Hz limit.
The good news is, the following extra step remains working based on our test:
(1) Doing a dummy video call to any number using the native video calling app (unfortunately, availability is based on the telco/sim support) or
(2) Connecting and disconnecting to an external display using Smart View or Samsung Dex
Not the most convenient but this maybe useful for some.7
Unfortunetly you didn't read the readme or the OP of this thread. Otherwise you would know this is done "by design". The app targets lower Android versions in order to save you from having to use adb/root for most of it's functions.6
