I didn't like the original look of the Reader Feed widget on my phone, and the alternative readers on the market either, so...

- Original Google Reader v1.1.1 (for ICS 4.0.1+).
- Nothing serious changed, only 6 xmls have been modified to get transparent look & white/blue text in the widget.
- Signed.

First you need to delete the original Reader from your apps!
Then put the APK on your /sdcard, install it via Root Explorer or whatever you have.

If an update comes from the Android Market, I'll update asap. (If you update from market, you'll get the original look back.)

Hope you like it.

Doesn't work for me. Stock (rooted) LTE Nexus; the app works, but the widget is not available in the widgets list. Also, you cannot override the original reader due to a signature conflict.

Hmm, then I think you should remove the original Reader. I just realized that last time I installed, I overwrote my previous version, and the signature conflict didn't appear.
I'll modify the OP, thanks.

None of the reader widgets appear on your widget list, or the Feed is the only missing one?

Sorry, I should have clarified that. I did the uninstall of the old one and installed yours. The only widget remaining was the 1x1 Reader feed widget. The 3x3 Reader, 3x1 Reader ticker, and 1x1 Reader unread were missing.

Looks great from the screenshots, though. :)

Weird. I'll look into it in the evening. Thanks for your feedback!

Great job!! Thanks. Hopefully you can update as newer versions are released - given the slow pace of Reader updates I doubt you'll have a problem :)

Gmail & Calendar are a bit heavier than I thought, as they're embedded system apps (not Market apps, like Reader).

Or I'm just too new to this modding-thing.

I'm in the middle of my exam period, but I won't give up, hopefully I'll have more time in the weekend and I can figure out something. ;)

Thanks for your patience.

Gmail in progress :)

Edit: not that easy as I thought... Background transparency was a piece of cake, but the widget uses common layout with the main Gmail app, so I need to write a whole new layout, add colors/IDs and everything to make the widget's text white...
