So just so you know, before I uninstalled the old version I saved or exported the revanced ext settings. I then u uninstalled it then installed the new version of revanced ext. But when I imported my old settings into the new version of revanced ext, they don't get restored. Now I have to manually put in new settings again. Can you explain this?

Last time I checked a month ago, backup & restore feature of Extended it worked but not all settings restored, like in sponsporblock etc you needed to manually to do the changes.
If you think it's a bug report it on github of extended I can't do much for this.

So if not all features are restored, at some point in the future, will you get it fixed? I It's a badly needed feature.

I am not the developer of Extended. If you think there is a bug report it to github and the dev inotia00 may take a look.
Even if it's semi broken, it's not a big deal to set the settings again like you want and I don't believe you will uninstall/install the app all the time I personally have to do clean install for very long time.

It's hardly a badly needed feature!

If you're just updating revanced, it's settings are preserved.

@zlaer Let me explain how the "update" works:

• ReVanced Manager has a keystore which with this key you sign your patched apk.
• If you are patching by yourself -without deleting data of the ReVanced Manager app- then with the same key you will sign all your patched apks and so you could update without an issue and keep your settings.
• If you are using my ready apks, these apks are signed with my key and so the app can only be updated only if you are already using my ready apks.
• If you are using for example the patched app you built and then you want to install my updated ready apk, then there will be incompatibility since both are using different key for signing.

So you need to use patched apks only from one source (either your builds, or my ready apks, or from others which I don't recommend) to update without the need of clean installing and so to keep your settings.

No. If you have (Re) Vanced installed it's a completely different app than Extended.
Extended has a function to import/export your settings but that doesn't work from one to the other. And what update are you talking about? ReVanced?
May I ask what's the problem with patching ReVanced Extended by yourself
(Incl. method, Device, Android version,rooted/non rooted)?

I don't have any standard vanced apk at OP. I guess you mean the Official ReVanced.

Yes, if you have it installed from my ready apks then you can just download the new update of my ready apk when available and install it normally and will update the current version you already have installed without losing your settings.

Btw what problem you had to patch by yourself? Which device / android version do you have and what issue you encounter? If you want we can take a look on the steps you follow.

Thanks for the info. I may have mis-wrote, but I did mean Official Revanced. What happened is I downloaded the suggest YouTube apk to use. I checked all the marks then patched. Initially it would just hang at initializing. Then later I removed wifi spoofing which I remembered reading a long time ago as causing issues. Then it went through but at the very end it had some kind of error then did not complete. I was trying to get it to work late at night and I don't remember specifically but it got to the end then did not complete.

I did use the apk made ones on Post #2 and I appreciate it. I'm not sure what the patching issue is but it's not a big deal. I'll just install over the existing apk to keep the settings in the future. They are working fine. The forked version with more options was a bit too much to navigate so I just used the Official Revanced, instead of the extended. I did forget to include my device info. Pixel 6a, non-root, Android 13 QPR stable (March stable release). So far everything is working good. I just used a secondary workaround to be able to chromecast and hide the button.

When you are the in the ReVanced Manager in the patches section, press the Recommended button and patch.

If the old apk and the new apk are signed with the same key, you won't need to uninstall the old version, as Retrial said.

By the way, for me the import/export feature of ReVanced Extended restores about 90% of the settings in case you'll have to clean install for some reason.

For me almost all settings are restored when a clean flash was needed.

If nothing helps you can use a magisk module.

Any preinstalled YouTube app on the device? Any leftovers of Vanced or MicroG? Device? Seems that One Plus has some problems with a feature called ram extension.

Well, I am using the device in my signature (Pixel 4) not the OnePlus.

Not sure how to really get a good idea if there is any left over content without deleting folders.

I ended up using the Magisk version for ReVanced Extended and these are at least launching and playing content so I'll stick with these for now...

ReVanced or ReVanced Extended?
You need to download the stock youtube apk and not to install it from Play Store. You should select it from the storage and then patch it. Also if you selected the recommended patches and you get only 8 something is wrong. Check my guide at OP.

Hi Retrial,

So i tried using ADB to back up the keystore file. But I get an error which states that its "inaccessible or not found." That makes no sense. See below. Let me know what you suggest. Thanks man.
