Some people requested a way to keep the keypad lights on while the display is not in standby. By default the keypad lights turn off after 10 seconds when the device comes out of standby. This little tool keeps the light on while the display is on.

Originating request thread (1): How to force HD2 to backlit buttons...

Article on pocketnow.com (with pic): Tiny LED Backlight Application for the HD2

Install or upgrade
1) Download the .cab attached to this post, copy to device and run it
2) Restart your device
* It adds the app to your \Windows\Startup dir
* It automatically closes KeypadLedControl during install, so you need to soft-reset even if you upgrade

Version history
v0.4
- Fix issue where keypad light stays on when device enters standby because of timeout.

v0.3
- Add initial support for Rhodium (known issue where keypad light stays on when device enters standby because of timeout in power settings)

v0.2
- Little battery saving

v0.1
- Initial version

Just wondering ..

takes a about 4-9 secs for it to turn on the lights after it comes out of standby

Is there a way to make it 1-4 secs ?

BTW nice Job .. Love it .. what did you use to compile this script to exe ?

Hi NetRipper:

A bunch of us over at PPCGeeks (Rhodium forum) have been looking for a solution as well. Someone stumbled on your post here, and I just tried out the app on my Touch Pro2. Below is my post (I offered to "test" it and report back).

Looks like it's almost there! We're happy you're beginning to support our devices too. Peace!

-----------------------------

No takers? Ha ha. Alright, I'll try it out...

Ok, I've installed it. First impressions: it works. And if you turn the device off as per usual, the lights go off with the power button. However...

One caveat (as per the disclaimer on XDA): if the device goes to sleep itself (ie. after 1 min of activity or whatever you've set that to) the lights DO stay on. This is a pain. For instance, if you get a text message while the device is in your pocket and you don't notice it, those lights will stay on till you do. I would assume this would have an adverse effect on your battery life.

So it's not ready yet. Let's hope NetRipper keeps working at it. I'll post this over at XDA too so he knows we're interested. :)
