This isn't a Vanced issue, because I have the non-root version working as you describe, clicking a Google Play video opens it in Vanced.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly what I did to get it working. Getting Play videos to play was the most difficult, I remember.

I do have stock YouTube disabled and then it is a case of setting up default apps correctly.

Below is how I have YouTube Vanced set up. I am surprised to see that I have Vanced set to always ask, because it doesn't.

I haven't disabled the stock YouTube app. So may be that's the reason. I have only set it to not open any links.

Despite setting Always Ask, some links open directly in the Vanced app without asking. I guess it happens when you click on a YouTube link from the Google app or one of Google's apps. It is the same that I see happening on my device too.

I'm using Pixel Experience Plus custom rom on my Redmi Note 10.

Whenever, I try to sign in to vanced using microg, I get the following message.

Reinstall vanced microG. If the error still comes, try using the Huawei button in microG sign in page.

When you tap on add account in vanced, it goes to microG. The very first screen has Huawei button in the bottom

It will not help since sooner or later YT will be updated on Playstore, whereas Vanced updates come less often

If you have non-root Vanced, you don't care (it has different package name than official YT). You could update YT, or uninstall the official YT, doesn't affect Vanced

For the root Vanced you must disable auto-update for YT in Playstore (not for all apps) or detach YT from Playstore

Anyway, all that was many times discussed and instructed how-to in this thread, hence if needed, please read the older posts

Known issue. Please read changelogs before reporting duplicate issues

For those experiencing duplicate Chromecast entries when casting, the problem is caused by microG. But the good thing is microG offers a fix within the app itself:

Enable 'Cast Duplication Fix'.

The disadvantage of doing that is that the Shared Control Notification disappears once this switch is enabled:

Is there a feature where you can select your pinch to zoom aspect ratio? Most phones now are skinny and really tall, which cuts off a lot of the video when you zoom. I want to zoom, but not that much

Hi every one. I just switched to a new phone and installed youtube vanced via the site installed of via magisk. Anyways I was using an odler version of vanced which worked fine. This new version works fine to. but.. In the older version when pleying youtube and going to the home screen or anywhee else I got the PIP window. Which is great. I also get this window in the new version. But with the old version I could close the pip windows by pressing the X you tube stopped playing. The new version does not stop playing and I have to go back to you tube to stop it.
I have been searching for a setting to change this back to the old ways but I cannot find it. The only thing I can find is to disable background play completly but thats not what I want.

Any suggetions?

You can drag down to end of even - push it into the background from PiP. For me it stops playing when I do that.

Sorry it's not a full solution to the issue you have but at least it will stop the playback.

You can then go and close it from the drawer drop-down.

Updated version 16.16.38 and my phone have an issue when I change to landscape mode => the brightness did not keep as last changed.

Note 8 non-root.
