I'd like to install this on SlimKat ROM (Running 4.4.2) on i9300 because of video camera issues, should this work? It will let me install it without problems?

I wiped and updated to weekly 3.6. So far I tried doing the same thing that would cause problems on stable 3 and it works fine

That's actually what I just did. I did a factory reset and flashed the 3/10 nightly. That's when I noticed the camera wasn't working and tried this fix.

I went ahead and did a factory reset then wiped cache, dalvik, system, and data. Reinstalled AOKP 3/10 nightly and flashed only this camera zip. No gapps. Camera opens, sits there for a few seconds with a blank screen (only controls visible, no image) then reboots the phone.

First of all really sorry for the delayed response...
Try flashing stock 4.1.2 using Odin...
If you still have the problem, I think there's something wrong with you camera hardware...

Change Package Name

Hi,

First of all thanks for that great app. Still is the best camera app for me!

I want to ask for the creator of the app or anyone else that can change the package app name so it can be installed as a secondary or independent camera app without need of replace the original stock camera and gallery apps from the rom. Is not a problem if it need to be manually copied to the /system/app directory, but that it could coexist with the stock camera and gallery apps from the rom, so I can use both camera and gallery apps.

Searching a lot, I have found how to rename the package name of an apk app.
Summarizing (if anyone need more details ask here):
- Used APKTool GUI (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33815550) for decompile and re-compile apk
- Edit AndroidManifest.xml and replace all occurences of "com.android.gallery3d" with "com.android.gallery3daosp"
- Change the name of the folder "smali\com\android\gallery3d" for "smali\com\android\gallery3daosp"
- Search all files on "res" and "smali" folders for "com.android.gallery3d" and replace with "com.android.gallery3daosp"
- Search all files on "res" and "smali" folders for "com/android/gallery3d" and replace with "com/android/gallery3daosp"
- Re-compile using APKTool GUI
- Sign apk

And voilá

Attached the new apk that can be installed as any other apk without need of root or pushing to /system/app

Yes it does work just fine on CM 11

hi i just installed this to my s3 running latest sokp rom. the only error i get is when i activate flash if i touch to focus the flash will come on. howver once i press the shutter button the phone will take a pic withouth a flash, then it will freeze for a second and activate the flash. when i goto the gallery the image comes up but its just grey. using stock cm11 camera works fine.

Hasn't been updated in 2.5 years, well before Android 5.1. Try it and see. If it works, report back. If it doesn't, then you'll know.

FWIW, I decided to give it a go on my CM13 nightly build. It installs fine and will, in fact, take photos and videos. However, any attempt I make at accessing the settings makes it crash, so not much can be done with it. But hey, it's (partly) functional
