How-to install basic version???

Hello all,

Did anyone figured out how to install the basic version? I really like the landscape support as well as the more direct access to TV chanels?

Do I need CorePlayer for this to work?

I just flashed a new rom which came with Manila TV..

But all the examples come up with wmp trying to open and an error saying.
"Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or the Player does not suppor the format you are trying to play."

Hello, this Manila TV Player works really great on my HD2 with T-Mobile stock ROM. I finally manage to edit my ManilaTV.xml file to add some channels. Now I have a few US channel, Japanese and I am having a hard time getting some Asia Channel such as Taiwanese.

Does anyone here is also Taiwanese and have a list of Taiwanese Channel? Greatly appreciated it if someone can share the links, thanks~!!

Tried with watch some TVBS, MacTV, but those are flash built-in sites. I am not sure if these have streaming URL in .asx etc

Hey guys, FYI people are hesitant to post good channel list because the providers sometimes will catch wind and then make changes to the channel info so it stops working until someone figures out what was changed. That said it's pretty easy to start creating your own, just go to a site like wwitv.com and pick a few that you like then add them to the manilatv.xml pointing to whatever player you wish to use. I would post my channels list but I don't want to tick anyone off. There are lots of tutorials around to help you edit the xml file!

hi, installed and got the tab working , very nice to see!
it was out of the listed in home tab option and I placed in the registry sacrifing another tab I don't use.. so far so good.. but It's really a pain to find working streams (it's like a jungle out there :D ) and editing each time the xml file and the logos.. especially cause after some time many of them stop working or change the url... so all to do again
IMO this tab needs to be supported by a streaming site wich provides working xmls .
I've no time to edit and test streaming (as many people I think) so I have to remove the tab and use SPBtv that is now for free

First of all, thanks for this great app!
I have been looking for a decent player for a while, but this is by far the nicest one. Especially the fact that it is integrated in Sense and you can easily add channels by editing the xml file is great.

It took me quite some time however to get it to work. I ran into some problems :
- ManilaTV tab was not showing after installing Manila TV PLayer 2.5 WVGA
- No way to move ManilaTV tab to another place in slider
- Putting together a decent ManilaTV.xml file with my local (dutch) channels, without dead links & icons etc.

All the answers to these problems were in this thread (remove ManilaFull.xml, editing registry etc.). I decided to create a cab file in case i will have to install Manila TV PLayer 2.5 WVGA again in the future (e.g. after a hard-reset, by then i would probably have forgotten what settings to edit etc.)

I tried it after a clean hard-reset, as well as with cookie's home tab installed and it works perfectly. So i figured i might as well upload it here, for dutch HD2 users who are struggling to get things going or just for saving time.
I have only one device to test on, and it is with stock rom so i don't know if there are issues on other roms. I have rom 1.66 and manila version 2.5.192.

What the cab does is add registry settings for the manilatv tab to appear in settings, replaces the manilafull.xml, and adds manilatv.xml + icons. Selected channels will open in windows media player.

Although i read you had to edit some manila files (e.g. 26948339_manila) i did not have to do this. So no manila files are changed.
Reboot after installation, you have to do this manually since the cheap-ass (freeware) cab creator i used did not have an option to force reboot.

I also uploaded "uitzending_gemist.cab". I stumbled upon this while searching for decent streams. It is available on the www.uitzendinggemist.nl website but not easy to find. It is a small browser with integrated video player to watch programs from the uitzending gemist site, like nova, journaal, netwerk etc. It works good but i can't get it into landscape mode, even with gyrator.. But dutch users looking for video streams will appreciate it.

I found a lot of streams to put into my Manila TV player, working great. 110 channels in all - CNN, ESPN, MSNBC, USA, CNBC, Animal Planet, History Channel, Discovery, Oxygen, Bravo, A&E, USA, SyFy, Cartoon Network, Foxnews, Disney, etc. I am not going to list them here, as a good chunk of them (probably 60) are MobiTV streams which would be changed when published in an open forum. Is there a way to create an application or cab that installs these without being actually readable (to avoid leaks of the actual streams themselves?)

BTW, I am using 3 different players for the streams: The built-in Windows Media player, Coreplayer and the Skyfire browser.
which brings up every post with the word 'us' OR the word 'streams. No Boolean AND available? Not even in 'advanced' search?

Having Some Trouble!!!

I have gotten this tab to work perfectly in the past but I haven't tried to use this in a while. I am running into difficulty getting this to work properly without losing tabs. I have gotten this to work though.

My problem is this: I cannot get all my tabs to show up in Manila with this TV tab running. I lose my GPS Tracker, Facebook, and a few other tabs. I installed the cab from the 1st post for WVGA screen. I then unchecked HTC Sense. Then I deleted the ManilaFull.xml. Once I rebooted and rechecked Sense, I got the tv tab to show up but lost some of my tabs in the process.

Then I tried editing my original ManilaFull.xml and replaced it in the Windows folder, then reboot and restart Sense, nothing changed. I don't get what's going wrong. Anybody got any help to lay on me?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, great job, it works perfectly.

Only slight drawback : it doesn't feature a landcape display mode, so using for instance ChangeScreen won't display it nicely, but it's not lethal ! :D

The other drawback (not directly related to this mod) is the fact that you can never freely add a single tab to Manila : you have to update the entire tabs list by overwriting the previous one.

So just installing the CAB will generally result in a big mess, as some of your existing tabs will disappear, and not all of them will be manageable from the HTC parameters.

Actually, the CAB should be given in two parts : one with the necessary files to have the TV tab working, and another one to display it, made on purpose for the ROM you're actually using.

As I'm now using NRGZ28's Energy ROMs, I made a variant for this CAB that will work with them, without touching the existing tabs... But beware : it will only work with Energy ROMs or any other displaying the same tabs.

You'll then end up with 17 fully functional tabs, all being manageable in the HTC tabs parameters (to hide / display them and change their order).

This is done by manually modifying the 26948339_manila and the registry.

If you don't use an Energy ROM, please don't use the attached CAB, as tabs definitions contain links to M9 modules in Manila files that can be absent from your system, and TF3D / Sense could hang on startup.

Energy ROMs contain "Recent documents", "All phone calls", "Twitter" and "Facebook" tabs that may be absent from your own configuration, so Sense may crash on startup if you try to use this CAB while the necessary Manila files can't be found.

You can of course download it anyway and edit the 26948339_manila XML file if you're at ease with it, but you could do it from Drg's original file too, though I also fixed the registry entries in the attached CAB.

Note that in my CAB, the TV tab is numbered "16" (tabs are numbered from 0, so the number 16 is actually the 17th) so it doesn't interfere with the already existing tabs (that's why it appears in the list from HTC parameters and can be moved where you want to, while it couldn't be done in the original CAB). The original CAB was designed for a 12-tabs only template.

Also remember that if you wish to translate the new tab's buttons to another language, then you'll have to modify the usual 17956b33_manila file, too. :)
