Yes, that is definitely a bug. Would you be able to see if this is fixed with the test version of the app CapButnBrightness-1.0.7-DimTest1.apk, which is attached to the previous post? I believe this issue might have been fixed incidentally.i don't know it is a bug or not...
i activate the buttons with the app, set option "set on boot".
lockscreen appears and the buttons are without light after re-login to phone...
Very cool! Once I make the changes that I want to for the endeavoru and evitareul variants of the HTC One X I'll look at adding the HTC One V to the list of officially supported devices. This works also with HOVthanks for this app

Your app with the 3 buttons doesnt work on HOV xd version 1.0.7 works fineI did a bit of work on the app today and I believe I got the "dim" setting working on your device. I refactored a bunch of the code to better support multiple devices and implemented the logic to use the lut_coefficient file to set the brightness to something other than full. I've attached a test version of the app for testing.
Would someone be able to test out this test version of the app? You should now see 3 buttons on the main UI (instead of 2) with a new button in the middle to set the brightness to "dim". You should see a distinct difference in the brightness when setting "dim"' verses "bright". Please let me know your experiences. If you can, please also test that all of the 3 settings stick across device reboots.
Reminder: This "test version" of the app is signed with a developer key so it will fail to install if you have an official version of the app installed. So you must first uninstall any official versions of the app before installing this test version.
Thanks for testing this out. I will need to investigate this issue more. I have an idea and will post another test app, hopefully by the end of the week, with a possible fix.with the 1.0.7 test1 version the lights are on after re-login
This is great information. This gives me an idea. Thanks!hmm..
after some hours, this morning the lights are off...again
- used Option: OFF / Set on Boot Result: after Reboot: Lights OFF / after Lockscreen; Lights OFF - all fine
- used Option: ON / Set on Boot Result: after Reboot:: Lights ON / after Lockscreen: Lights OFF - they should be ON :cyclops:
used Version: 1.0.7 dim-test1
Thanks for this report. I expect to have an updated test version by the end of the week. Fingers crossed that it works betterYour app with the 3 buttons doesnt work on HOV xd version 1.0.7 works fine
Thanks for testing this out so quickly! Expect an official v1.0.8 app update within the next week.hi denversc,
Test 1: passed
Test 2: passed
great work. thank you :fingers-crossed:
Works now with HTC one s!Attached is a new test version of the app: v1.0.7-DimTest5. In my testing this version perfectly supports the "dim" setting on the HTC One X+. Would it be possible for one or two of you HTC One X+ users to load this test version of the app, run the two quick tests below, and report your observed behaviour? For those of you who are experiencing the OS issue where the capacitive buttons backlight does not turn back on after the screen turns off, this version of the app actually fixes it!
- Click each of the 3 brightness buttons in the main UI; verify that the brightness level immediately changes accordingly
- Click each of the 3 brightness buttons in the main UI, for each button press, press the power button to turn off the screen, then press the power button again to turn the screen back on; verify that the capacitive button backlight is the same brightness that was selected prior to turning the screen off
Reminder: This "test version" of the app is signed with a developer key so it will fail to install if you have an official version of the app installed. So you must first uninstall any official versions of the app before installing this test version.
Thanks!
Passes 1 & 2 fine on AOKP 17/12/12 build.

That "minor" issue that you've reported indeed bugs me too! I'll see what I can do about it...Passes 1 & 2 fine on AOKP 17/12/12 build.
Only minor issue is when you have 'dim' selected - turning on the screen makes the buttons start out at full brightness very briefly and then they change to the 'dim' level.
