I'm just going to try reinstalling using your Ultimate Installer zip and see if I can get it to work that way. MusicFX is non-existent in PureNexus.

Uninstalled everything, reinstalled using Ultimate Installer, installed driver, replaced audo_policy.conf with one you provided and set permissions to 0644. Rebooted.

Didn't work.

I should also mention, sometimes when using Google Maps for navigation, when the voice comes on to tell me what's next it sometimes will break processing and it will then return a couple moments later.

Ultimate Installer was one of my very first builds and your audio focus issue was a common occurrence back than. I strongly recommend the steps in my previous post. :good:

This is the best version below. If you don't want Dolby flash ViPERAudio. I don't recommend ViPERDD+ as it requires Permissive Selinux.

First, flash the MusicFX installer zip and then disable MusicFX. Then flash ViPERAtmos or ViPERAudio.

I followed these instructions, installed MusicFX, installed ViPERAudio, booted, disabled MusicFX, installed ViPER driver, rebooted. Same thing, processes everything except soundcloud. Ugh

While I did find V4a gave me a crisper, cleaner sound, I was unable to get a really decent bass response at all. Perhaps it's the difference in devices. I'm still playing with V4a, (it's baked into this rom) I would just like to get it to work with more apps.

I had almost forgotten about poweramp, I have several older paid copies of it. Maybe I'll try those today too.

I found that using an IRS significantly boosted bass response. I suggest changing trying to find your headphones in Listening Device or something close if you can. I also suggest going to Dynamic System and selecting listening device, then selecting high end headphone v1. Also tweak the dynamic bass to your liking. Lastly, go to Fidelity Control and switch it to Natural (if not selected) and mess with the settings.

You can actually get the newest version of PowerAmp if you already bought it lol.

Interesting, I just tried GoneMad after reading this comment and found that it's on board eq is very lackluster compared to what V4A can do. I also found it to be a little worse than PowerAmp's, Neutron, and a few others. For some reason I can't get any sort of sub bass or punchy bass with the app. It is usually very boomy. Lastly, the app (imo) doesn't have great DVC like the others. It introduces some severe clipping. Honestly, I have yet to see an app that can do what V4a is capable of.

Thanks, I tried your suggestions and all I can say is WOW. Huge difference. I am now officially loving this app. I'm even now getting fairly decent bass even through these iPhone earbuds (which ironically I found in a park a few months ago). I actually just had to turn it down, and that's rare for me.

As I've said before, this is why I love XDA. I can interact with real devs and true geeks, like me. I've never been steered wrong here but have spent many hours fixing devices after following helpful 'advice' from other forums.

Awesome. I forgot to mention that you could change the 10 band eq (just 31, 62, and 125) which also changes the bass

Having an odd problem. Using Eleven or Google Music, some songs have no equalizer effect. Some do, some don't. It however works with every song using the MX Player, so what is wrong? I cannot seem to figure it out. Besides that, i also always need to use the audio Balance feature when using 20ms and Level 2 surround sound, due to more sound being on the left ear than the right (no, its not the headset, i tried with multiple headsets and also bluetooth, same problem, had this on my Note 3 too, now on my Note 4).

Yes I know about benefits of tubes, but it is exactly what I said - it is just an instagram filter hoping to look vintage, but is not. If I want tube sound I will have to get tube amp, not just regular amp with DSP as any alteration of signal results in data loss - why would I want to apply useless filter? This borderlines with fake turbo whistlers for cars without turbos...

In this day and age everything is digital. So, this mod lets you play with the sound just like adding a filter lets you play with pictures. "Why?" you ask. "Why, why , why??" Because it's fun.

Citation needed. "I work with XY so you have to trust me" will not work. If you do actually work with "sound", please, get a spectrum analyser and do some rigorous controlled tests.

Still waiting on all those spectrum analyses and rigorous controlled tests you were going to do so you could give this badass project a scientific black eye...

Just installed on my old SM-T110 (which I mainly use as an mp3 player). This time it works thanks to your helpful tips. It improved sound tremendously.

Oh, I had the app in novice mode originally, that's why I couldn't get the sound I wanted on my other tab. I do see how most non-geeky sammy users would never be able to run this awesome app. Has anyone dev'd an app that would one-click install V4A? (considering it needs root, custom recovery, and having to flash a zip, probably not)

Yeah I was about to ask if you had it set to the expert ui but figured you already did lol. I don't believe anyone has to your other question. The app is highly dependent on the ROM and device it is being installed so for example I didn't have any issues installing this as a regular apk (with custom recovery, or zip file) on most of the devices I used it with.

Why do I have to change my CPU minimum frequency from 384mhz to 486mhz and CPU Governor from Ondemand to Interactive just to stop the pop/crackle sound when screen is off when I never had any issues on previous ROMS?

If set my kernel settings back to default I get problems several minutes after screen off. . .
