i just ordered a op5... still have a op1. my wife has a op3 and i know when i tried to decrypt it, i had to punch in some password that i didnt know. i had to do some weird work around that i forget how to do, but it wiped the data. im guessing this will too. or is the password a known password and im just dumb?

Just got my OP5 today, brand new and I want to decrypt it. Would it be better to run it at the start since it doesn't have any files? Also do I need to root the phone for this?

You should root your device right now seeing that when you unlock your bootloader it erases everything

I totally forgot about that lol. But I unlocked and rooted phone last night. Still debating if I should decrypt or not.
I'm not sure what's the reason to. Not saying that it's not important but I'm on FreedomOS and in still encrypted.

you need format data(not wipe data)

And you can also install stock recovery, and it will restart to stock recovery auto format data then auto reboot to system(That is why now it's rebooting to twrp again and again)
