How's it working on ICS?! I'm going to install a leaked ICS rom on my Galaxy Note tomorrow! :)
I'm not sure how it is working on ICS as we don't have ICS (yet). CM9 port in the works and Lenovo says they are going to release it within the next 6 months :/

I'm curious how it'll work on your device as I am interested in the Galaxy Note, and Samsung's S-Pen tech in general. If you don't mind, please post your results :)

Cheers.

It's not that bad, mate. Lenovo said end of May, and they were challenged to make it by the end of April instead. CM9 will likely be ready before then.

What would be nice...

+1 for lasso
+1 to extent the paper (akf: MS Notes)

+1 Hand wirting recognition.
I really start to like this from notes mobile. It's accurate and makes it easy to share notes and also search them... Best thing is to be able to add a sketch and combine the best out of both options, drawing mode and recognition mode...

Anyway, a great app and I can only encourage everyone to buy it and support Volker to continue...

Not sure if you mean Quill or the Galaxy note, but I did test Quill on ICS (but not on the Galaxy Note) and it works fine. Please post your impressions when you flash the lastest and greatest!

Works great on my Galaxy Note with ICS 4.0.3 :D The S-Pen works flawlessly! The ROM is not very stabe though and I may have to downgrade...

Oh by the way... finger input seems to draw very fine lines. Is that on purpose? Also, a blackboard mode would be really useful: saves battery and useful in the dark (because who wouldn't want to write in total darkness?)

This is great news Volker1 :)

That is nice that everything works great in ICS :) I also like the the idea of a blackboard mode. Interesting indeed :) Blackboard mode, lasso cut/copy and importing of images would make Quill the perfect solution for all my school needs IMO.

And continue the wonderful work Volker1. I'd buy it again (and again) for the addition of features like mentioned above.

Cheers. :)

Same here! :)

Now that I got started, scrolling page view would be really useful, so you don't have to switch back and forth between pages when e.g. doing math.

Also inserting space would be veeery useful! I.e. if I want to scribble something between two lines, I can just "pull the lines apart". Windows Journal and Xournal and Jarnal for Linux are good examples of how "insert space" works.

I asked over in the Galaxy Note section if someone can test Quill on the Note and failed to remember that someone already did a few posts back.
But it only works in ICS, it doesn't show up in the market for the Galaxy Note Android version 2.3.4.

Galaxy 10.1

Hi

Is anyone using this on the Galaxy tab 10.1? Would love to know how well it works. Considering getting a pen to take business meeting notes.

Let me know if soneone is using it in this context.

Thanks
Louis

I am sure I am not the only one to try this but I did attempt to side load the latest Quill.APK on a stock note and it is giving a error about parsing the package. I figured it would be a no go but I really like the looks of quill and can not wait to throw my money at the screen and figured I would add my experience here for anyone who wanted to know.

EDIT

I see it is already noted in the supported devices page on the wiki so I feel a bit silly posting it here but I assume I am not the only Galaxy Noter that has come by so I will leave this up in case people read this before they check the wiki

I don't have one myself but people have reported success after using the TouchScreenTune app on their galay tab 10.1" to change the settings to be more pen-friendly.

Is there a way for the app to allow install on a Gingerbread device like the Galaxy Note? I know that it works fine in ICS and ICS will come to the Note, but just wondering.

Thanks for all your hard work.

That's awesome news. When you say "S-Pen works flawlessly", do you mean that pressure sensitivity also works? That might convince me to flash ICS to my note :) Also, now that I know about Quill, I can't wait for the Note 10.1...

I had to downgrade from ICS because I couldn't make or receive phone calls :(

Damn, I actually didn't pay attention to pressure sensitivity, so I'm not sure... also, I didn't know there was an app called LectureNotes, which I definitely need to try out.

Time to reinstall ICS! (there's a working version repacked by chainfire)

Just want to say that this is a great app and Volker listens to feedback very well. Any plans for a pdf viewer app or pdf backgrounds so we can do annotations?

Some Useful Info

Hey Volker, great job you're doing with quill. I can't express enough how useful it is for me both in academics and work. I can have all my notes in one place without loads of papers and tagging makes it easy for me to find what I want with ease.
However, I have a request, I think it will help a few of us rooted thinkpad users: I've tried using writepad stylus in the past and it has a setting for only stylus mode or touch. I know that quill does this automatically and recognizes if you have a thinkpad but with the latest release of alpha CM9 for the thinkpad, it is not able to recognize the tablet (probably because of build.prop differences or drivers ).
Also, in the past I have had to edit my build.prop to spoof another device if I wanted to download a market app that was "incompatible" with my tablet. When I edited the build.prop, quill failed to recognize the thinkpad and only offered touch input.
With these issues, I propose it would be very useful to add a setting just like writepad stylus to manually select pen input. Because of the importance of quill to me, I had to restore my thinkpad back to lenovo's stock rom after trying CM9 which, though is in alpha, is wayyyyy faster and more stable than stock. So I'm stuck between CM9 and no quill pen input or buggy, slow, stock rom and functional quill. Between a rock and a very hard (and buggy) place :D .

I really appreciate you looking into this and the CM9 devs (koshu and Jon) are very helpful and I'm sure will assist you with any info you need.

ps: I'm no dev, I don't know how difficult or easy this will be, so I appreciate any reply; but please no flaming here, I seen too much rudeness on this forum today. If anyone has nothing useful to say, then silence is golden :p

Do you happen to know android.os.Build.MODEL for the CM9 alpha on the TPT? I could just add that to the database.

Didn't take note of the android.os.Build.MODEL but I'll go back to the rom so I can pull the info and post it here. Thanks

I've pulled the info from the rom. There doesn't seem to be an android.os.Build.MODEL but I've posted the entire build.prop below:

there are reports that the next version of the CM9 port will get quill to recognise pen only but it hasn't been released yet and playing around with the build.prop sometimes to get market and some games to work means that the manual settings may still be useful.
