i recently updated to the latest quill update and I keep getting an error. It it tells me to make a backup and and click OK, but after a little while it force closes and doesn't allow me to use the app. It looks like it finish is making the backup since there is a tar file left behind. I tried uninstaling it and and reinstakled it and it works but once I go to setings I get the same error. Is there any way to get back my notes from the the tar?

#3 A "Quadrant" option (toggle on/off) for 7" tablets held in portrait view: Q1 top-left, Q2 top-right, Q3 bottom-left, Q4 bottom right. With a toolbar tool to advance easily forward or back between quadrants. The idea being that while writing in any one quadrant, handwriting would be scaled such that when the document page is saved and viewed on a larger screen (PC for example), everything written fits nicely on an 8 1/2 x 11" page.
I second that! This way you could use Quill to write A4 comfortably on a Flyer (instead of A5).

I tried many apps, but nothing beats the "feel" of writing of Quill, keep up the great work!

You need a tablet with an active digitizer. Currently these include Lenovo Thinkpad, HTC Flyer, HTC Jetstream (all n-trig) and Samsung Galaxy Note (wacom) (which is technically a phone). I have a Galaxy Note, and I'm eagerly waiting for the upcoming Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet!

Don't expect to be able to write accurately with capacitive styli!
I will disagree with this. I use Quill on a Transformer with a conductive cloth stylus. It is the best writing app on the market. The digitizer is better but you still get great results with a capacitive screen.

HTC View has active digitizer, too. Own it and enjoy it. Same as Flyer but with 3G.
In your experience do you find the view to be a little small to take notes on? I have not had a chance to really look at it in person, but it seems like it would be easier to take a lot of notes on a bigger tablet such as the thinkpad.

It depends on the type of notes. Class notes, no way. Very Small. Quick notes to self about business, clients, need to do - yeah, works great. Love the portability. Also own the ThinkPad. Great note taking, not as easy to port.

Do you know when the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet is going to be released?

I need a note taking app that records the sound while i`m writing,, just like onenote does on windows. Does anyone know of an app that does that?

If the app can sync the recording and what i`m writing, even better.
Volker1, do you have any idea when this will be available?

There is also the HTC Quattro.

I noticed Quill got an update today (and yesterday) that includes the TPT pen button working. But for whatever reason, I cannot find an option to turn it on and it doesn't seem to work by default.

Anyone have different results?

I believe my battery is fine. Unfortunately, I don't have another to test it out. Curious, what OS are you running? Stock Honeycomb or ICS?

I'm using the 00731 CM9 ICS port found in the dev section. The button works fine in Lecture Notes, so not sure what could be the issue. I tried changing the 'override pen' function, but no different combinations worked.

Is it just me or did a recent update not only add pen button support for the Thinkpad Tablet, but also quietly fix the weird palm/pen rejection issue that I and a number of other people have been experiencing?

I haven't done an extensive amount of writing since I performed the update, but it seems like the problem where my palm touching the screen sometimes caused the pen to not write has now gone away. Can anyone who also experienced this issue verify that it is indeed gone?

Quill on Galaxy Note

Hi,

Just tried Quill on a Galaxy Note running Stunner ICS ROM. Works good so far, however, the pen input is not recognized when I place my palm on the screen. It seems however like its recognizing the pen as I'm not able to draw with my fingers.

I can confirm this, I'm running the CM9 port as well and my button isn't working either :-/

Highlight

Thanks for a great app.

I would suggest adding a highlighter pen. It would probably behave pretty much like the pressure-insensitive pen, but would display in a layer behind other drawings. (It would probably be opaque, but I'm not sure about that...)

I have several times wanted to highlight some note already on the paper, but been restricted to underline or circle, so as not to cover the note.

I would also support a couple of suggestion mentioned by others: 1) adding some type of editing functionality (lassooing or selecting notes in some way), for quickly changing colour and thickness of already-jotted-down notes; and 2) PDF annotation (possibly in another app / together with e.g. ezPDF (?)).
