For some reason CWM Recovery didn't work on my Xperia Z (I coulnd't mount Sd card)

This one worked like a charm though. Great job man. I can finally enjoy a black navigation and status bar. The gray one was driving me mad.

Hi !

Here's an application to install and uninstall TWRP 2.4.3.0 recovery on locked bootloaders Xperia Z. It's stable on my Xperia Z, but i highly suspect some partition (system) problems with Xperia ZL phones.

This application will install TWRP recovery ramdisk to system as "recovery.tar", but you can provide your own recovery (ramdisk) by placing it to "/sdcard/XZRecovery.tar". This way this application could be compatible with other recovery or devices.

If you don't know which file to use, download XZRecovery-1.0.apk, install it and run it.
The recovery will get lost each time you flash a rom or wipe system partition.

  • XZRecovery.apk
    • Install, uninstall and reboot to recovery from your Android device

  • twrp-2.4.3.0-xz-locked.zip
    • Install recovery from windows (ADB)

  • twrp-2.4.3.0-xz-locked-recovery.zip
    • Install recovery from recovery

If i install using the way listed in the original thread by doomlord, will we still lose the recovery after wiping? Thanks

I came to TWRP from CWM too and all I did was install the apk file and used it to install TWRP. Worked fine.

I did that to, but TWRP freezes when I try to click "install" button. Everything else work normally . I can change settings, do backups/restore.....After couple of reboots i do manage to get inside "install" . Any advice ?

Numeric soft keyboard not working

I can't get the alternate kerboard to work in TWRP. When I choose to rename backup, i can only use text. WHen I try to use numbers, text came out instead. For example, when I key in "stock433", it shows "stockree". 1,2,3,4 is being replaces by q,w,e,r etc.

I've tried reinstalling TWRP a few times with no success.

Other that that, it's great! No problems with both windows and apk versions.

It's same problem as TWRP for unlocked bootloader since this is my same recovery ;) I have a new XZ so I'll try to fix it asap :)

Open the superuser app once. Then try to install the TWRP. it will work like a charm.
