I am using these hosts sources now, can I add more to improve my protection or are these enough?

Thanks, i live in ItalyThis is totally subjective - it depends where do you live (to block regional ad sources), which apps you use, which sites do you open in browser, etc
Like what is the best phone (depending on budget, some prefer smaller display, some big battery, etc, etc)
Are the hosts sources to add in adaway all found on this site?
Or are there other hosts sources?
Also, aother site with packs of small/big, porn vs analytics vs etc hosts sources:
Please read back (search) in this thread, various users have proposed various other hosts sources (many users, different preferences)Are the hosts sources to add in adaway all found on this site?
Or are there other hosts sources?
there are as many hosts files as there are grains of sands on the beachAre the hosts sources to add in adaway all found on this site?

Thank you! I have not activated the proxy server and the data saving and I do not use another app to block the ads, then the other things I do not know. However in private dns I added "dns.adguard.com" and now it seems that no advertising opens on the browser.
Can you recommend the best hosts source (one or two very large that blocks many ads) to add to the default ones on adaway?
Hi again. Are the hosts sources to add in adaway all found on this site?

someone interested might wanna consider this: https://schakal.ru/hosts/hosts.txt...there are a lot of hosts files....a large blocking list, besides the ones already mentioned..
As for any other app - native Settings, Apps, AdAway, then Delete Data (or Uninstall and Install again)Hey Guys is it possible to restore the stock host file somehow?
I think i blocked too many stuff, now i cant download any updates from playstore anymore.
I dont know if its related to adaway, got my refurbished pixel 4 xl back yesterday and set it up frsh.
I was able to download updates yesterday, but know its not possible anymore.
I activated the dns thingy and blocked maybe too many stuff in there while i was browsing in xda...and had commercial banners which i wanted to block
Could that be the Problem?
thanks, it could also be temp prob in playstore maybe....As for any other app - native Settings, Apps, AdAway, then Delete Data (or Uninstall and Install again)
Then configure once again - that will recover three HOSTS SOURCES coming with AdAway installation
If you just want to restore STOCK HOSTS FILE, then stop AdAway (button on its main window) and (to make sure - neccessary on some phones), reboot the device
You're talking about hosts file, hence you probably have root.
You have to figure out which host addresses you found which DNS logging can be blocked and which ones can't.Hey
My facebook was always showing ads even adaway started, i suspected it with dns log, i figured it out b-grapg.facebook.com is showing ads but when i block it facebook wont work again, any solution?
You have to figure out which host addresses you found which DNS logging can be blocked and which ones can't.
This is kind of trial and error. You can't block the main addresses like facebook.com and others because you won't be able to reach Facebook anymore.
Also you didn't say if you use the Facebook app or open it in a browser.
I don't use things like Facebook but if it's the app it may be possible that there are ads that are not host based.
Adawy can't do anything against those ones.
Btw, as far as I know there are several alternative Facebook apps that don't have so many ads and are smaller too.tha

Try something else (not using FB and cannot guarantee - but you could have also searched in the thread for FB): Preferences, Root based adblocker (supposing you're using), uncheck Enable Web server (i.e., disable the Web server)Thank you
But this would take too much time to figure out which server inside of these all servers, i dont know but before adaway was good and it worked for facebook app, why it isn't now?
I have facebook app and the original one, i dont like third party ones cauz none of them even near original app it is smoth and rich.
Good afternoon colleagues:
I am writing to you with a doubt. If you can shed some light on it.
It turns out that looking at the Exodus Privacy website for an application. It came to my mind that it would be wonderful to have a host in Exodus Adaway.
I started looking to see if there was one. And I only found https://blokada.org/mirror/v5/exodusprivacy/standard/hosts.txt but it is for blokada, and by the looks of it, correct me if I'm wrong. It would not work for us.
Therefore, my question. Is there any Exodus host either standard, aggressive, complete etc... to be able to use it in Adaway?
Best regards and thanks for your time
Most probably an android problem. Maybe open an issue report on GitHub.I use Adaway non-rooted via VPN on a xiaomi redmi note 13 pro+. It works fine, except that it does not automatically start after a reboot. Any ideas why not?
I did:
Ever since I set the Always-on VPN, I get a message after reboot (before providing the unlock code for the first time): "Disconnected from always-on VPN — Change network or VPN settings".
- Selected "Background autostart"
- Set Battery saver to "No restrictions"
- Set Always-on VPN in preferences
- Set Block connections without VPN" in preferences
Adaway is supposed to start automatically after a reboot, right?
Thanks for helping!
It's always blatently (NEVER automatically )asks me on a data clear, just tried it and gotI have been using Adaway, both rooted and non root versions, for several years. My phone broke last week, and while I wait for a replacement I am using a borrowed stock Oneplus 9. It is running Android 14, with no other VPN apps. When I install Adaway, it installs the root version, so I get a systemless host error. It used to install the correct version automatically, is there any way to force it to install the non root version?
GitLab, like GitHub do not set LastModified HTTP header so update status is not supported... yet!Is anyone using a hosts list hosted on Gitlab? It keeps showing "Unknown update status".
It works well here. I failed to reproduce as I change the HTTP client library and how I use it.Hmm, not working for me for this URL, v4.1.0 shows something like not updated in -360 days (some large negative value). Can you please see if you can reproduce?

Not really. You could choose a lot of different mode. All the F-Droid apps I know of have manual push updates to the store.
Isn't automatic build basically for nightlies?
Thank you so much! :highfive:I exist still... do you know what i have to do to transfer ownership? if i edit project it doesn't let me change the primary author so i assume i have to PM some higher up to make this happen?
Thank you too!
