Well, if you have a good backup, and since wiping dalvik and cache worked before, it might be worth a try. Was the WiFi on when you used my app? As always, if you are worried about it, you should play it safe. :good:

This underscores my need to figure out how to make a good backup.

I am usually pretty good about turning wifi off when I leave the house, but I cannot confirm with 100% certainty wifi was off when I used the RIL Control app. If wifi was on, do you think this is what caused the issue?

Once I figure out how to make a reliable backup, I will experiment with this again.

Update on the RIL Control app:

I ventured out yesterday, and I made sure the wifi was switched off. When the data died, I fired up the RIL Control app, and wouldn't you know, it connected the data just fine.

I got home, turned on the wifi, and that worked too!

It appears that wifi needs to be OFF when using RIL Control, and then the problem goes away.
