I just upgraded to a Note 5 (from a Note II) and am having issues with the Gmail notification. The LED lights up fine, but: if I read the email in my desktop browser, the notification (neither the LED nor in the notifications shade) doesn't go away. If I disable the Gmail notification in LM, everything returns to normal.
Just to note, I also use mySMS, which lets me send/receive texts from a desktop browser. Everything works fine between that app and LM. When I read a text in my browser, the LED on my phone shuts off, and the notification disappears from the shade -- yay. So it just seems to be a Gmail issue, and only in more recent OS versions (I have MM).
So for now, I'm leaving Gmail notifications disabled in LM, and using the wimpy stock LED notification for Gmail... so sad! ;)
Has anyone else noticed this? I have the 5.1 workaround box checked (things didn't work well without that).

To fix it, you will have to disable "5.1.1 workaround" and then enable "Wake Screen" in Light Manager | Advanced Settings.

Darn.. Two things: 1. I tried that, and it didn't work. 2. I disabled LM again to see what would happen, and it is still doing it! Something buggy on Google's side I guess?
Anyway, sorry to bother you. I looked around the net for answers to this, and found one person saying they fixed the problem by disabling Light Manager.. Which worked for me once! I'll post back here if I find a permanent solution. Thanks again!

Is this a workaround or the permanent solution? This would cause the screen to come on every time a notification is received which I am guessing isn't desirable for most people. I am a LM Pro user and hate to abandon it unless this is the only planned solution.

bnacl, are you saying you have the weird gmail issue I'm having too? I'd be happy to hear if there are others (besides the couple others I've found by googling).

Hah.. that said, I have mine set to 5.1.1. off, screen-on, as recommended by mckoo, and it just worked (with the email that I got telling me about your reply to this thread. I checked it in the browser, and my LED turned off). But it didn't yesterday. Dang, intermittent bugs are the worst... :/

If you don't like wake screen, then you can disabled it but you have to enable 5.1.1 workaround.
Note that the workaround will create some expected issue such as notification duplication.

If you are referring to the Gmail syncing problem, then it happens on my Samsung device as well sometimes.
When read Gmail in PC sometimes, it will not sync to cancel the notification on my Samsung device.

Not exactly sure if it is the same as yours, but my issue is that Gmail doesn't work per the settings (I have it set to RED LED) and instead displays the default blue LED. If I enable the turn on screen option it works, but I don't want the screen to turn on for every notification. The 5.1.1 workaround seems to have no effect and doesn't solve the problem.

Perhaps could you please go into Light Manager > Advanced Settings > Enable Logging and enable it.
Then try simulate the Gmail problem. A log.txt file will be created in your internal storage under a folder named "LightManager".
Please send this log file to me and I will check what's wrong with it.

Light manager seems to be working partially either with Xiaomi MAX, MIUI 8 6.7.7 China developer rom or both, not sure.
The flash rate and the Led turn on time does not make any changes except for flash rate none, which cause the led always on.
Choose other timing exept for none will have the Led flash at a constant same rate regardless what I set for the flash rate and the led turn on time.
Not a major issue, but I'd prefer the led to be blinking slower that the stock flash rate.

Well... now I am confused as it doesn't seem to be consistent. I enabled the logging and the GMAIL RED LED did not work. However, once I enabled the 5.1.1 workaround it DID, which previously did not work. I am going to do some additional testing. If I do reproduce it, where do I send the log?

I am guessing that maybe this is the hardware or firmware limitation.

Hello. I have an issue with Light Manager 10.2 (this issue was in older versions too) - the app eats too much RAM memory - more then 100mb. Device is Sony Xperia Z3 compact, android 5.1.1. In older versions this issue appeared only after GUI using. After the restart everything became fine, but now the restart dont help.

Eventually, I disabled "MeasurementBrokerService" in Google Play Services - it seems everything works fine
for now... But I think it is not a correct move)

After you have restarted, try not to open Light Manager app anymore, most likely the UI is permanently loaded into memory to improve UI efficiency.

    It's been a long time not updating Light Manager.
    I was trying to make notification LED brightness to be able to adjust itself automatically using light sensor, however it drains the battery so much while testing with SGS3. So I decided not to implement this until I found out a solution.;)

    I have taken away notification icon. From now on, you do not need to enable notification icon to make Light Manager run stably. In other words, there is not difference in performance of either showing or not showing notification icon.
    Besides I guess the toast message of granting permission should not appear too often now.

    Two new permissions have been added into this version.
    1) Read instant message : For making GTalk notification LED not needing ROOT access anymore
    2) Wakelock : For making alternating LEDs blink smoother

    Anyhow, I still noticed that alternating LED is not blinking smoothly sometimes. I will improve it from time to time.;)

    First you need to leave notifications set on in the system settings.

    Also the market app is not your latest.. it only has missed call, msg, mms and Gmail settings.

    Also indeed you need to sleep to do the test mode.

    Also need to turn off test mode for normal operation or the color comes on when you sleep even with app closed

    Also blink is not working..light is on solid.

    Also colors are wrong for AT&T/USA variant.. and not all colors are available.

    As far as I can tell our colors are as follow:

    Blue = red
    Red = green yellow or so
    Orange = white
    Yellow = white
    Green = purple
    Pink = white
    Purple = orange
    White = white

    No blue light blue pink or green


    Suggestions if possible no signal or no wifi notifications.

    Also on each notification... Max notify time . Ie in minutes or hours or forever.

    Also time range from /to where notifications are disabled ie late at night

    Also battery percentage where when below no notifications

    Also if multiple notifcations at once ie missed call and msg then toggle between them.
