Thanks OP
The latest one click version worked for me. I downloaded the zipped file and unzipped. I then proceed to put my phone in USB Debugging mode and hooked it up via USB to my Win 7 32 bit computer.
Clicked on oneclick root. It gave me option to root and install market apps
I did the root first and the system did it its thing, the phone went off for few seconds and came back up again. I then clicked on install market apps, it did its think..
I then had Super User access to the phone. I downloaded titanium backup and then TB asked me download busybox to make it fly...which I did.
Then in TB I proceeded to uninstall the ATT Bloatware apps...i think I learned in the process, that after uninstalling, its important to shut down the phone and restart, for the moment it fixed the lag problem and the generic labels....yeah
BTW, I am totally new to anroid OS and took a leap of faith in doing the one click root
Regards,

If you are looking for this tool, here's the link:
If it's gone, you can PM me.
rageagainstthecage is a root exploit via a fork bomb.
It IS a potentially malicious payload, BUT it is being used with owner's consent to root the phone.
The DreamDroid malware use exactly same payload - they are trojans, but this is a helpful tool.
It IS a dangerous tool in the wrong hands, but this is a root exploit, so you should exercise common sense and a little understanding of what it does and how it works.
Couldn't have been easier. However when I launched TiB after seeing the successful ROOT message box from the unroot app, I am not rooted.
Update to my post: ran again and Busy Box states that I am rooted.
Thanks...
When i run this .. The GUI just hangs with a blank screen .. no errors.. if i go to task manager there are two adb.exe processes and if i force close one the GUI closes.
Any ideas?
