I got T-Mobile 15 minutes ago on WCDMA Preferred. Make sure you go to mobile network setting and register onto the respective GSM Network.

On the rich man's HTC, sipping on some Moonshine.
Well maybe that was my problem then. I thought the app was telling me to switch from WCDMA Preferred to a GSM mode. I will try again today and report back. Thanks!

It worked! After setting to WCDMA Preferred, I went to Settings->Mobile data->Available GSM networks->Search and then selected T-Mobile and I got a cell signal. I did have to restart the phone for GSM data to show up. Thanks again guys!

Where you having Sprint HTC ONe ???
Huh?

This unlock will only works if i have stock rom and any update from sprint?
I mean the updates block gsm connections??
The SIM unlock only requires root and a Sense ROM. I'm not sure if it works on the 4.2.2 port, I'd advise using a stock ROM. Some custom ROMs might remove the hidden HTC app that I call to, but that's unlikely. But try a stock 4.1.2 Sense ROM if you have issues.

If the app doesn't work on 4.2.2, I'll look into supporting it. I just need a tester :)

Can I software updates after root HTC one?

Technically, just rooting the device will allow your phone to keep talking to the Sprint update server. Custom ROMs should remove that ability, updates will fail if you're rooted for various reasons, but you'll be constantly notified that there is an update from Sprint, even though it will fail when you try to update the software.

Well maybe that was my problem then. I thought the app was telling me to switch from WCDMA Preferred to a GSM mode. I will try again today and report back. Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know, I'll include some more detailed instructions in the next update. Also, a button to open the network settings menu (if I can do it without the dialer, I'm sure there is a way).

Speaking of updates, I'm mostly done with a new version.

App Changes:
  • app opens to API menu directly now
  • create a timestamped log file of what you do in the app. Of course no personal info, just like "tapped on Start button" or ROM version. Things that would help me debug an issue and see where the program was when it crashed. This also keeps you guys from having to use adb logcat since alogcat can't see logs from other apps, a new "feature" of JB for security (unless you're on viperROM, I've enabled alogcat to read all logs) but it's still easier to just send me an already generated file, right? :)
The app will also get the logcat of the SIM unlock operation and put it in the log file.
  • after SIM unlock operation is completed successfully, pressing back button will take you to a new page that displays a success message and a reboot button. You can view the captured logcat within that screen via a menu option.
  • added ACCESS_SUPERUSER permission, a good convention for root apps.
  • code cleanup and improvements

No ETA on this, but at some point, I intend to offer a paid solution for a one click unlock in a new app that works even on AOSP. It would have to be coded a while new way, but I will tackle it at a point in the future. Have to figure out how to protect the code and app really well before I would release it.

Anyway, you guys know what I know :) please let me know if you have suggestions for the app or if you have issues with the app. Again, I'd be willing to make this work on the 4.2.2 sense port for this ROM if someone can help me test it. I don't really feel like flashing the ROM to test it :D

I'm not going to say this again. This thread IS NOT for general or technical discussion of SIM unlocking. I linked 2 threads in first post where you can ask these kinds of questions.

Let me clarify this for the last time as simply as I can... If your post has nothing to do with my SIM unlock helper app, it DOES NOT belong here. This is for feedback, issues, or suggestions for my app ONLY.

Thanks.

I'll test. I do get T-Mobile service though on 4.2.2 hawks Rom. I just have to be on a 4.1.2 Rom. unlock SIM and flash 4.2.2 and go into the dialer.

Previous 4 posts are related to SIM Unlocking and not app related. Per App Developer/OP, it has been requested to keep this discussions and genre of questions away from here and into the correct thread.

Sprint HTC One SIM Unlock Helper

Hey guys, I've put my improving Java skills (thanks college!) to use and made a free app to help you with SIM unlocking your Sprint HTC One. I couldn't think of a good name, but I think the name is self-explanatory :D I made a post in the General and Q&A threads that involved SIM unlocking, but then I figured it would be best to make a dedicated thread for the app so that (hopefully) I'm not being asked for help with the unlocking process, but just for app issues/suggestions. This will allow your phone to use 3G (HSPA+) and 1900Mhz coverage areas on T-Mobile and AT&T. I'll just copy and paste from Google Play so you don't have to click on a link :)

Link to Google Play - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viper.simunlockhelperfree

If this method (or similar) works for other One's on different carriers, please let me know and I will make this app compatible with more phones. If you want to try it but you don't know if this method works on your phone, contact me and we'll talk about a test version, but I will not be held liable if you brick your phone.

Please post if you have any issues with the app (you can email me a log from the Menu) or if you have any suggestions. For general SIM unlocking talk, this is not the place for it. Please visit the thread in General or the one in Q&A. Thanks and enjoy :)
This is nothing short of amazing! Do you think there is any way that you could make one for the Sprint S4?

Hey -viperboy-, if i go to viper rom sim unlock and then go back to a non sense rom would it work? (like we used to do for the GPS Lock issue)
Yes, once you're unlocked, you're unlocked.

I don't know the unlock procedure for it, I doubt it's like this is. I'll take a look, but don't count on it. I don't like to do things like this without having the phone.

Thanks Viper. This worked for me. I put in my Tmo sim and got GSM. I'm in a area where I get full 4G signal on my Nokia Lumia 521 but only get EDGE ("GSM" lol) speeds here. I guess I'm not in a 1900Mhz area. Going to try taking it to work tomorrow.

If you hit the back button after tapping sim unlock, it should take you to a confirmation page.

Updated to v1.2, should be in the Play Store shortly...

Changelog
v1.2
------
* App opens to API menu directly
* Added more detail to log, such as logcat on successful unlock, changed to .txt extension for easier viewing on device
* After doing SIM unlock, hitting back will tell you if unlock was successful or not
* Added option to reboot if successful
* Added ACCESS_SUPERUSER permission (good convention for root apps)
* Added double-tap back to exit
* Code cleanup and improvements
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viper.simunlockhelperfree

This will probably be the last update before I start writing an app of my own to do the unlock itself :)

Hi viperboy,

I seems to be having an issue with this tool. I used an earlier version but not having any other sim cards can't verify if it worked. Your latest version should, however, indicate whether the procedure was successful or not. When I run it and backing out after clicking on "sim lock" not only I don't get any confirmation, but the logs are empty too. Any ideas what's going on?

Was that you that posted the 2 star review on the app in the play store?

I tried this probably 50 times before I released 1.2 and it worked every time. In fact, just did it now. Opened the app, hit start, tapped sim unlock, hit the back button, confirmed successful unlock, hit menu button, tapped on the option to show the log, log is available for viewing, text file has everything in it.

Not sure why it wouldn't be working for you, it's the version from the play store.
