Are got running ICS or JB? I'm running ICS 4.04, no root, stock. I loaded the apk file, but I still could not select 5 GHz bandwidth. I'm thinking of using CF autoroot for this & Green if you.

Has this app been updated since it was originally posted?

Updated once iirc. No need to update because it hasn't been reported as broken or was I able to break it so far :fingers-crossed:

As long as this app runs as a system app (installed via recovery and only via that method), you should be good.

It seems from this thread, one can, if rooted, can load as apk as a system app, but need to change the permissions for the app once copied to system apps. Judging by the posts, it seems either flashing or as I described works.

Am I not reading this thread correctly? If so, please point out.

Thanks.

Thanks OP! This does work on the (Verizon) Galaxy S4! I had been having some issues with WiFi at work -- see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42172004&postcount=29

Now I can test if changing to 2.4 GHz and leaving the settings stuck with DHCP instead of a static IP (workaround that fixes disconnections) will stop the disconnection issues. Way thumbs up!!! So far I'm connected to the same AP @ 2.4GHz with the same static IP settings and it's working fine.

Edit 1: For me, switching to 2.4GHz does not solve the problem with DHCP enabled. This particular network has a Sign in/I agree page so perhaps it's something to do with that, or something about the AP that doesn't want to give me an IP after a disconnection attempt/timeout. Leaving it as static works.

And once again thanks for the app, OP!

I noticed that when i select 2.4 GHz band and then go to the main screen, if i open the app again it doesn't say 2.4 GHz, it says automatic. Should i do something else?? Maybe give it some privileges, i don't know if this app has been tested on another T999 with positive results. Thanks...

Nothing you can do I'm afraid. The setting isn't hidden, it's completely removed. That's precisely why it isn't sticking.
