I can confirm this app works, the app doesnt show the current frequency I am on. But does actually change the frequency when I select.

I only knew I was on 2.4ghz because my router shows me, now I am on 5ghz thanks to app.

The quesiton is why have samsung removed this feature? its still in aosp?

Intent control?

Hi I know this thread hasn't been updated for a while. I'm using this on my rooted Note 3 N9005 Kit Kat stock Touchwiz rom and it works perfectly. I'd love the ability to control it via shortcuts so I can use it with my task launcher Locale. Wi-Fi at work is best on 5GHz whereas at home I have the routers on mixed bands, so would prefer that the phone only switched to 5GHz while I'm at work. Could you either provide the source code or ideally update the app to expose intents for auto, 5GHz and 2.4GHz? Thanks mate...

this app should already come with a locale plugin  open up tasker, create a new task, and you should see this app under "plugins". If you don't, let me know ! The OP might not be updated with the latest.

I don't own Tasker but there's definitely no plugin showing in Locale. Should it work in both our just Tasker? This is where intents help as you can call them from anything.

Tasker/Locale/Llama, it should work with all.

Try the attached apk. It's the latest build which should have a tasker plugin integrated. Flash over the previous apk and reboot.

edit: removed. Get it from the OP.

Hi

First of all, thank you for making the app.

After being unable to access 5 GHz access points for well over a year (I selected 2.4 GHz only before the OTA update that renoved the option), I decided to give it a try as I wanted to re-install the newest stock ROM.

I followed the instructions: Rooted, installed clockwordmod recovery, installed the app via clockworkdmod.

However no matter what I select, there is no differece to the networks shown in wifi analyzer. If a select 5 GHz only, the connection to my 2.4 network is lost, but I can still see it (also in wifi analyzer), and if I disable and re-enable wifi it connects to my 2.4 GHz like nothing has changed.

I have a GT-i9300.

I will appreciate any help or pointers you can give.

Thanks in advance

i would like to happilly report that i tested this Mod on a Samsung S5 G900FD Fw4.4.2 (With Root and TWRP).
i test it on a friends G900FD and it worked, i just put it on the SDCard and flash it via TWRP and it worked like a charm.
