Thanks. Copy and pasted with root to system/app with permission rw r r on a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 5.1.1 Rooted stock. Five feet away from router tablet would choose 2.4 ghz at 130Mbps instead of 5ghz at 283ghz. Btw using Play app Wifi5 to tell when on 5ghz instead of opening a wifi anazlyzer. Now if this app were more manageable, eg signal strength rules ect. Btw I know I can have different SSIDs but for the sake of network AP SSID uniformity I have all of them named the same.

I wish i could use this but the option bar is greyed out on auto.... and it wont let me select anything... i want to do this because my wifi goes out then reconnects constantly without a constant data connection.

on newer devices it works without root

i know this thread may a bit old but to help others searching for this out there,
if u are not rooted you may consider sideloading the app. although Im using a S7 Edge on marshmallow it works like a charm without root!
it probably doesnt require root on newer devices.

Works great on 6.0.1. Using it on a Tmo Note4 910t3 on -EPK2. Switch bands on the app and it toggles between the bands on my dual band Afoundry just fine...

It works like a charm in nougat ROM but it is not working on Oreo .I think due to change in api level .

Tasker/Locale/Llama, it should work with all.

Try the attached apk. It's the latest build which should have a tasker plugin integrated. Flash over the previous apk and reboot.

I tried to flash attachment from the 1st pages but my switcher greyed out. I cant change into 5ghz. Im currently on rooted huawei nova lite. Its has b/g/n . Is there any way i could use 5ghz .

I tried this on S8+ on 9.0 and it doesn't work. Is there update version or alternative?
