On NSFAN's new WM 6.5 ROM this works, and changes the registry entry, but it has no effect, the wifi still goes off when using the wifi router program.

very useful app.... but it doesn't work every time.. not very reliable.

I request you, or someone to please look into this app... and refine it further. Thanks.

Could you give me more information? What OS, what ROM and what device are you using? When you say it doesn't work every time, can you explain when it does work, and what is different about the device when it doesn't work.

Thanks :)

Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2
Windows 6.5 professional

OS version 5.2.21889
manila 2.5.20121324.1
ROM 2.04.651.4
Radio 2.32.ooWF

whenever my phone goes on standby, or i press the power key.. to save some battery, and when I come back to Windows, I see that wifi connects again to the router. It gets disconnected for a while.

1 good example is like:

when i am talking on skype, and if i press the power key, - sometimes it will still let me talk, sometimes it will be dead air, and then i press power button again and i see a window on skype asking - to connect to mobile network.

Hope this clarifies.

Surely that's a problem with the skype application then? The best way to test this is to ensure your wifi is on and put the phone into standby. Then, when you turn it back on, it should still be connected and not need to reconnect.

OK i just did the test again just like u said,

sorry to say it still fails :(
I'm a bit stuck with that, to be honest. With a TP2 running WM6.5, it should have the same effect as most other devices. There has been the odd person saying it doesn't work for them, but only a few out of nearly a thousand people. If I knew the reason I'd gladly fix it for you, but I just don't know what the problem is.

The only thing that I can think of is that there's something in your current ROM that stops wifi staying on. Obviously, if that's the case then there's very little that can be done about it. Sorry mate :(

Thanks!

Just installed the application and it keeps my ActiveSync Direct Push connection up and going (Just as I've been wanting it to). Now I can diagnose if the phone is the issue or if our network is not liking the device's authentication. We'll see how well the battery holds up. Thanks again though for writing this app!

hi, nice program ! :D

I'm looking for one that could toogle this function (on/off) on demand (like wifi or bluetooth toogle app).
I use some stream music app :p and forcing wifi on is a real need but when I don't use that kind of app it eats so much battery. :(:(:(

where could I find a "force wifi toogle" app working on hd2 ?

thx

If you install this app then wifi won't turn off when in standby (and this app never uses any power, so don't worry about that).

Then, install the TouchX reset & wifi cab from this post...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415

You can then create a quicklink to toggle wifi on and off.

Hope this helps :)

I mean : the app don't uses power -> yes it's just a reg modification
but it toogle wifi always on : and wifi eat battery
I already have a wifi toogle program

I'll give you some exemple of my use :
I regulary use my hd2 as remote control (using Gremote), I don't want wifi to be forced always ON, it uses battery.
before, when I pressed on the screen, it switched on screen and activated wifi (which was on standby) allow me to change volume and so on.. after a few seconds, the device went on standby.
Now it uses much battery when I watch a film for exemple because wifi is enabled during 2h :( .

Basically, I installed WifiNoStandby for listenning to music using GrooveMoible.
Before it streamed the track, then wifi detected that there is no connection need so standby. So my play was stopped at each track.
Now it's ok but I'm looking for something allowing me to enable/disable that WifiNoStandby.

I suppose it could be possible using your way because it modifies a few registry key and it's effective without restarting. So the opposite should be possible.

Maybe the same program but in the opposite, resetting the default value ?

Do you understand what I mean ?
(I'm french so my english is not really good:()
